Nice Work!
That looks really good, I like the wrap on the handle.

The knife is good too. Really like the blade shape.

Beautiful work Raymond!
The tassel is a very nice touch! Whats it made of? Looks like horse hair. I bet alot of the native American hawks had things similar to that on them.
What kind of pins or tacks are those in the handle? Did you make them out of copper pin stock or are they copper tacks or nails? They sure add a nice look to the hawk!
Very nice bowie too!
All those leavins from the victims aint a bad touch either! :D

Michael, Thems bear bones, very bear bones. As for your questions the hair is buck tale, was looking for horse hair but didn't see any. Was thinking I could get some from my cows but it would have a green tint to it. The buck tale was sold with fly tying supplies. Cheeper than feathers. I used copper carpet tacks and solid brass 5/8" nails. The carpet tacks I had to peen to make them look good. Glad you like the combo. Wish I had gottem alittle better picure to show the detail of the top of the hawk. I had been asked to display the two pieces in the towns art gallery for a month so had to shoot and run. Had a deadline to meet.... Ray

Not to steal any thunder from that fine lookin' 'hawk, but that knife is really kickin'! Awesome looking combo you have there!

All the best,
Mike U.

Really Cool,The Buck tail hair is a cool idea also.Never thought about that as a hair to use,Was thinking of some wild pig tail hair once but then changed my mind for some reason.

Beautiful pair there, well matched, and both beautiful pieces in their own right.

And congrats on having them displayed. it amazes me quality of some of the "local art" I've seen at small museums aroun d country and then look at crap that's "famous" or whatever, and this just continues to uphold my opinion. And that all almost made sense. ;)

But anwyays, great work.

Glad you guys like the combo, this next month ought to interesting with the two being on display in the art gallery. Never in my wildest dreams had this thought ever occurred to me. It should give me an idea if there is any local interest in what I'm doing.

They look awsome Ray! I love the combo of knife and hawk, let us know how it goes at the art gallery.

Ray, That looks really great! When you get it back from the art show could you show us a few close ups of the tassle/head and the pin work and the grip end/tassle?
Really nice work.

Tom, I picked up a link so you can get a little better look at the hawk, its also got another picture of the knife. Kind of hoping they both sell and go to a new home. I just got some factory made handles in today so I'll be posting another hawk thats simular in the near future. Hope this lets you see the detail alittle better. For some reason when I take my pictures I'm always in a rush and don't look at them real good untill after I've posted.......Ray
