Have you checked out the foldover, deep carry clips over on STR's forum? If not do yourself a favor and check them out. I'm ordering one in a couple of weeks and have it ready when my Tyrade arrives. Please don't take this as an insult to your clip style Kershaw, it's just that I would not be comfortable carrying the Tyrade as is due to it syicking out of my pocket......I'd be too self-conscious about it.

some of us hope there will continue to be a trend toward more options of deep, less obvious carry... as opposed to big design statement clips. the tougher the restrictions around workplace environments make large clips (especially like the JYD2) less appealing. However, that's one knife that looks great without the clip, and is worth having with you regardless (in the back pocket). Thanks for the heads up

I must have a deep carry as well in my knives. I don't have a Tyrade but I revised my JYDII carry.

Much better... nice job! not too much, not too little.... is that from a cyclone? Kind of looks like it

I keep wanting to send a bunch of knives to STR for the deep-pocket clips, but Kershaw keeps coming out with new knives, and that keeps my play money tied up.

I am into the deep carry clips. The only reason I have not gotten the JYDII yet is due to the clip. I agree that it looks good, but again I could not carry the knife with the clip advertising, "BIG KNIFE IN POCKET" Again, PLEASE don't take this as a putdown, it's just my opinion and knowing what I would and would not carry. Btw, if STR has the knife in question, as he does the Tyrade, you don't have to send the knife as long as you are using the original holes.

Btw Gull Wing, you did a super job on the clip!! Maybe the next STR?!?!?!

I'd buy a deep carry clip for my bump, and happily for all my knives after that. My whole family is sheeple (barring a few cousins), and in general, less questions are better when it comes to edcing a knife.

what is str?

hello,i'm the one who ordered the tyrade clip. it really makes the knife better to carry.the original clip(which looks identical to the storm clip)makes the knife stick out too much.it was also way too big & wide.it is like a whole different knife with such a simple change.its well worth getting.

Well thanks for getting that done as I wasn't going to get a Tyrade because I knew I wouldn't carry it and so I was not in a fit for them to arrive at my dealer. Now that I've seen your deep carry clip I know that I DEFINATELY have to have one. Man that Tyrade is one good looking knife and I can't wait to get one and start carrying it. Who knows, if I like it well enough I may just get two of them!!

how compatible are kershaw clips? If I got a clip for my bump could I switch it over to a boa? jyd? lahar? I love the idea of having it for my edc knife, but $30 each adds up damn fast.

Thanks for the positive comments.

Bookworm, Kershaw uses a wide variety of pocket clips. While most use the same screws the spacing and positioning of the screws to mount the clip varies from all but the ones that use the exact same clip as another model. It seems going from memory that the Blur and the Leek use the same clip other than color for example. But don't hold me to that I'll have to double check it. On most all but those models using the same clip as another knife in their line up you would have to redrill at least one hole and thread it if not both holes for the new clip to swap a clip from say a Scallion to a Cyclone for example.

I have a real attraction to a couple of clips Kershaw uses (both Cyclone models clips, and the NRG clip) but a few others turn me off. You know I've noticed that pocket clips are generally eye sores on a lot of knives that take away from the beauty and the lines of an otherwise nice folder other than the clip. Its sad anyways that on most production folders and a high number of custom/handmade folding knives that most clips look like they were slapped on there as an afterthought rather than like they were designed and molded to fit that particular folder. For this I applaud Kershaw's efforts becasue if nothing else their clips are stand outs even among customs in the industry for their unique designs that are not generic looking pre stamped blank looking turn offs at all compared to some of their competition.

One of my favorite clips from them is the little guy they use on the Chive. I like a lot about clips like that actually. For one, its small enough to mount about anywhere you need it and two, its so thin and smallish that when mounted on a big knife it gives the impression that the knife in your pocket is much smaller and can even blend in a pocket with ball point pens depending on the knife you install it on.

this is sooooo funny. at least for me. But I no longer had my Tyrade as of this morning when I posted here. Then on my way home this afternoon I stopped by one of my favorite sources for second hand stuff. I picked up an unused XXXX Tyrade from the december Kershaw sale here in Portland. Obviously cherry picked because I can't find much if anything wrong. maybe a little off on the grind. Anyway, I just love this model and had missed the one I had. I just thought it was a strange coincidence :o

Its a great folder. I have one in my pocket more and more. I've had it for a while but with the orders lately for two low riders I had reason to get it back out and start carrying it again since I was going to need it. I had put it back because every now and then depending on what I'm doing you can't tell what I'll have on my me. I've used mine pretty much for cutting all the stuff that is known for dulling a blade but good and I gotta say that the CPMD2 is top shelf! I really like a lot of things about it. Thomas and I were talking about that earlier. I look forward to running some future models through the paces using it.

Oh yeah. For your viewing pleasure. :D

Well, STR, i certainly hope you plan on stayin in the clip making business for a while longer, cause I'll be getting at least one low-rider clip in the next year. (gotta get some other things first)

You know it my friend!!;):D I'm definately glad you had it done since I really, really wanted a Tyrade, but had written it off due to the clip/clip placement.

Made the clip myself = .032" titanium.
(I am an amateur as opposed to STR)

Don't sell yourself short. I've seen your work and its no amateur that can pull off some of what I've seen and handled!
