I am the only one that does NOT like them?

Seriously, every knife review I watch, the reviewer always praises it like it is a selling point. For me, it is not quite a deal breaker, but definitely a negative.

Am I the only one who likes a little bit of handle sticking out to help get a a good (pre draw) grip?

It depends on the knife for me, but no, you're not the only one.

Some knives feel right with deep carry clips. Others feel better with some handle at the ready. :)

I'm not a fan of the deep carry pocket clips either. For exactly the same reason you listed; I like something to grab ahold of when I draw my knife. That's one of my favorite things about one of my all time favorite folders, the CS Rajah II. Plenty of handle to hang on to and make that wave feature work.

I carried a Rajah II for quite a while. When I referred to my "pocket knife", my B.I.L. would say "you mean the MACHETE you keep on your pocket?".

Yes, there is plenty of grabbable real estate, when that beast is pocketed.

Hey, try something fun - I halve water filled 2 liter bottles, with my sword BUT I started thinking it would be cool if I could do it with a folder from the pocket. Wave your Rajah II out of the pocket and make an "angle 1" slice on a 2 liter filled with water. One of the only "pocket knives" that works for that. A lot of fun, try it, you already have the Rajah II you just need some water and a bottle :D

Like my Hogue Ritter. There simply is not enough girth on the handle to get away with using a deep carry. I really like that knife...... once it is in my hand BUT trying to fish it out of my pocket is a pain and I don't even wanna think about how difficult it would be under stress.

I know they (Hogue) adopted the BM hole pattern (scale has 3 holes, clip only has 2 screws) so I am gonna see if I can find a custom clip that let's the knife ride a little higher because I really want to like that knife.

Which models have a clip compatible to the Hogue Ritter? Anyone know, off hand, so I know what to search for? Thanks!

If it's the Benchmade/Emerson pattern -- which I'm not sure it is, I don't own a Hogue Ritter -- then any clip that fits a standard Benchmade or Emerson should work. MXG has some aftermarket clips that aren't deep carry, if memory serves. And actual Benchmade or Emerson clips (some of which would be branded as such, if that bugs you) work also be an option.

You are not alone my friend. I wouldn't go as far as to say I despise them, but...Nevermind...Yea I pretty much despise them. I guess I really just don't understand the purpose of hiding your knife rather than having it easily accessible. I do know that many YouTubers seem to LOVE them, which may contribute to the popularity. They have a platform, and knife companies listening to that platform may think that they represent all knife enthusiasts and that because they are so vocal about it we all want deep carry clips. I personally can't stand them, and honestly I don't even like the idea behind them. No offense to those who dig them, just my personal preference. It has put me off of the purchase of more than a few knives.

I like deep carry clips a lot. I don't like it sticking out of my pocket. It catches on things, bangs into stuff, plus I've had a few woke folk here in Chicago notice a knife sticking out of my pocket and give me a hard time about it. It doesn't have to be super deep carry, but discreet.

I got a lynch clip for my hogue ritter. The clip was a "benchmade" clip and fit perfect. So im sure any benchmade clip will work. You can buy regular clips from benchmade for $10.

I have never experienced issues getting a knife out of pocket even with super deep carry. What is happening that prevents you from doing so?

For me it is two things that make me love deep carry clips. Number one is I typically dont want people seeing I have a knife, thats my business. The second is snagging on random things. Deep carry rarely snags or catches on external stuff.

depends on the knife. every knife isn't better with them. some are, some arent. good designer gets it right from the get-go so changes don't need to be made. not counting tinkerers who would change perfection just cause they can and want to.

I’m also not a huge fan of deep carry. I don’t think any of my knives have deep carry at the moment.
Milled ti clip guy all the way here.

Usually I go with REK Knives REK Knives milled clips for spydies or benchmades. :)
Check Josh’s work out, or send him a message on here about the clips. :)

I much prefer a deep carry clip. I've had any issues being able to get the knife out of my pocket.

I don't like a deep carry clip vs a "standard" carry clip.
So, no, you're in good company.

It really depends upon the knife. I have one knife that will never see a deep carry clip.

I have another (a Benchmade 531) that was greatly improved by the addition of a deep carry clip.

Also, how I am dressed can make a difference. If I am in dress clothes, a deep carry clip works best. If I am in cargo pants and wearing gloves, a regular clip will work better.

I don't really understand the difficulty of accessing a knife with a deep carry clip. Either way I use my thumb on the inside of the knife and my forefinger on the clip. It makes no difference to me whether it is deep carry or not as far as ease of pulling it out. At all.

I prefer deep carry for the same reasons that have been mentioned in this thread, though it has never really been a deal breaker if it isn't.
