First of all I would like to mention that this is my first time posting and that after reading many of the postings I am pleased with how welcoming and sincere most of this community is.

Anyways, does anyone know of production folding knives that utilize a "deep pocket carry" or "low ride" pocket clip on their knives (only the clip is visible when knife is clipped in pocket)?

I like having a knife that sits completely in my pocket but can't find too many examples, that are not custom knives, other than the: Al Mar Sere and EDI Genisis. Thanks :)

Welcome to the BFC! ;)

Both you mentioned are about all, to my knowledge. But I found that Sere 2K clip is TOO DEEP. The one on those like Kershaw BOA and BM Pinnacle is just right, deep enough for me. :)

Plateado - welcome to Blade Forums. My suggestion would have been the SERE 2000, but I see you've already thought of that one. For what it's worth, I prefer the deep pocket carry that a knife like the SERE can offer. I have a Spyderco Lum tanto, for example, which is a great knive but which rides too far out of the pocket for my tastes. The middle ground would be something like a Benchmade 710; it rides acceptably low, though not as much the SERE.

Welcome to the forums!!

The EDI has a great clip but unfortunately, they are out of business! My favorite deep clip knife is the Gerber SLG 3.25! It is a great knife for the money and carries the same as the EDI. They can be had from www.dnrsports.com for about $38 I think!

I've never owned one but the Gerber Applegate-Fairborne has what appears to be a low ride clip.

Someone was making a Zytel handled knife that was pretty cheap that would do a 180 around the handle to make it ambidextrious and also able to be clipped from the spine, I imagine a design like that would have to ride low. Maybe someone here can say what Brand/Model it is.

Oh yeah, you may also consider a William Henry and just buy one size larger in the clip case, you may need to trim a little off of the top of the pouch but it would allow the knife to ride lower.

:)

Welcome Plateado. I have the SERE and love it and do find that it can be a little too deep if you wanted to access it fast, cause you actually have to go into the pocket, whereas if it stuck out a little more, you could grab it by going along the edge of the pocket. Don't get m,e wrong I love the knife. Here's the other thing: The clip is large and silvery and is highly noticeable. I've called Al Mar and asked for the black version of the clip, nothing yet. Then I'll like mine even more.

I have got to agree. The EDI genesis II clip was the perfect length. Too bad they went belly up. never figured THAT out, they did make a real nice knife......wolf

You might want to give the CRKT Crawford/Kasper FF a look, as it rides very low in the pocket, and you won't need a bank-loan to buy one.:).

Another great deep pocket blade is the Spyderco Standard. Unfortunately I think it is out of production.
