Deep pocket minority?

It seems to me that most of the forumites either carry a knife with a clip or a sheath. Recently I realized I like deep pocket carrying knives. Anyone else prefer this carry method?

IMO, some knives are perfect for deep pocket carry...some aren't. But personally, I like it.

I usually carry at least two knives. A large EDC clipped in my back right pocket. And a smaller deep pocket knife in my front right pocket. Every time I put my hand in my pocket I am fondling that knife. The deep pocket knife usually gets more use but the clipped knife can be easier to access in many circumstances. For example: seated, squatting, or wearing gloves. Both have their advantages. Mostly though, that front pocket knife is less frightening to the more sensitive among us. The only problem I have with that front pocket knife is once it is in there that pocket becomes off limits to anything else.

I carry my William Henry Kestel in it's leather pocket sheath, and over time, the sheath has taken on it's own patina, kinda like an old baseball glove. Besides that, keeping the knife in the case keeps the scratches to a minimum. It's not a beater, after all.
I liked this method so much I ordered the leather pocket case for my small sebenza, too. It takes a second or so longer to get at when I need it, but If I'm ever faced with a situation where I need to worry about a second when retrieving my knife, then I'm probably toast anyway.
I'm kinda paranoid about losing my expensive folders, snagging the clip on something, so I guess for them, I prefer deep pocket carry too.
Still carry my 'users' and 'weekend' knives clipped.

A Wegner Highlander and a Camillus trapper. I've been moving away from the lightning fast, bomb proof tactical folder. I use a knife a dozen times a day and for my suburban office job I have to give the nod to thin bladed cutters that don't freak people out. If I went back to delivery/loading dock work I'd probably have my Spyderco Ayoob clipped to my left front. YMMV

You mean to say that some people carry their pocket knife in their pocket?

I always carry an "apple and sandwich" knife in my left front pocket next to my wallet and a SAK in the right front pocket with my keys and change. Then I start adding sheathes and coat or shirt pocket carry.

I stopped carrying knives clipped in pants pocket after I lost my first Delica, I sometimes clip a small one in my shirt pocket and also a leatherman sideclip on my left jeans pocket.

I usually carry a small stockman deep in right pants pocket, sometimes I drop it inside my coin purse.

My usual second EDC, Victorinox Huntsman, has a lanyard and hangs from a small carabiner fixed to a loop on my belt, so it is in the pocket but not deep and is handy to pull out.

I carry a Buck Cadet or SAK along with a clipped knife. You know, for the sheeple.

I always have a knife in the bottom of my right front pocket. Sometimes in the rear right pocket, and sometimes in the "watch" pocket.

A Delica with no clip is perfect for the watch pocket, I find.

Deep pocket, Gerber, Black Lip Pearl Silver Knight, Union Knife Works, Equalend Jack with brown jigged bone scales, probably from the early 40s, SOG Flash 1 with the clipped removed.

I carry in my pocket about half the time. I used to get about one failure to lock open a year with some lockback or other, when a piece of lint would get into lock notch. Once a year isn't that much, but often enough that I've finally stopped carrying lockbacks in pocket and only carry them clipped now. Never got a lint-based failure-to-lock with liner locks, axis locks, frame locks, or anything else.

I always carry my FRN clipped Endura down inside my left front pocket with the clip outward.Started that when they first came out.tom.

Depends on the knife and on the day. Usually I carry my Bud Weston "Roach" EDC clipped to the "watch" pocket in my jeans, and deep in the front pocket a very small, custom Matt Stocker folder in a home-made leather slipcase.

I do both. Deep in front left pocket is a queen D2 stockman, clipped in front right is a S30V native.

I quit using a clip. I was always scratching something with the clip. I carry a Lone Wolf City knife in my RF pocket. I love the size of this knife, and for me it's the perfect all around blade shape.

depends on my activities for the day, one of my 2 small ones gets pocket carry... sheffield lambsfoot slipjoint(3" blade, and a lot of spring pressure) or spydie bone kiwi in leather pouch(factory pouch).

I've almost gone full circle, don't carry my big locking folders a lot. Gone back to slipjoint or kiwi and fixed blades.
