Black deer over veg-tanned cow, stitched with Kevlar thread, and waxed, braided nylon cord, and aluminum sex-bolts. Blade by Mecha.

I really like your style, very unique. :)

Also, the wording on the life size skeleton package is a hoot! "to put your clothes on" YES! :D

and yes, I want one, always have.

i am not quite sure as to why leathermistress' posts always seem kinda slipery ;) maybe it's the name ;) or the sex-bolts...
anyways, i love the sheath, awesome with the ribbing and the segments. is the 3 in 1 hole stitching just looks or is it actually holding the sheath together? also where did you use the nylon and where the kevlar thread and do you have a picture of the side of the sheath? :D
the blade is also really nice, like it a lot. the whole style including the smooth handle wrapping.
also like the tng screen ;)

There she is. I was just talking about you here the other day. :)

Your paring with Mechas awesome work is a natural. Love it as always.

I'm glad you like the sheath! I call the triple-stitch the "crow's foot," and it is absolutely functional. It puts tension around the sides, as well as up and down along the edges. I use thin Kevlar thread to sew the panels together on the front, and the waxed, braided nylon cord is what I use for the crow's foot. The nylon has been durable and stood up to a lot of abuse so far, but I'm planning to use something similar in Kevlar, because, well, Kevlar.

Glad you like the blade as well! Believe it or not, it weighs less than the sheath...

awesome, thanks alot! that really looks like something i need to try. did you just use an awl for the stitching holes? sorry, lots of questions, i know, it's just that i always want to learn more.
i think the ridges are an awesome details on the front.

and i sure like the blade it looks really great. i would totally like to have one, but i am more for blades i actually carry and use. (i even sold my spyderco jumpmaster because it was too large) still, it is an awesome piece of work.

and yes, picard is awesome!

I don't recommend the hole-punching method I used on this. I punched the front, back, and welt separately with an inexpensive rotary punch from Tandy:
http://www.tandyleather.com/en-usd/product/economy-rotary-punch-3220-00.aspx
It's broken a number of times, but hats-off to Tandy for replacing broken tools, no-questions-asked. I recently upgraded to their next model up, which is still only suitable for light work, *but*, the punches screw out and can be mounted in a drill press. :)

Thanks! I used the panels more on some of my older sheaths, that gave them an almost bamboo-like appearance. I'll try to find pics!

Glad you like it! You might want to contact Mecha about it. He also makes a small knife version of it, that comes with one of my sheaths. :)

and yes, picard is awesome!

Will do! Finally, someone who wants to see my pretty purses...

Pretty purses?!?!?!
Please (no! I beg!!!) some pics at least (WIP threads if possible) and my 'leathercraft' budget might grow up to infinity... ;)

i actually would like to see the purses and anything else as well... even wips! i am currently working on a sunglass case test object after my original case broke.

hmmm, hole punches...
never considered that really. everybody seemed to be using stitching irons, awls or awls mounted in drill presses.
still haven't found a decent drill press i like. what kind of drill press are you using?

You asked for it! Here is one I made for my mom a few months ago:

...and here is one I made last night, photographed today on the hood of my car in various lighting as the cloud-cover changed:

I can't wait to see the sunglass case! I've been an optician for 15 years, so that has my interest!

I'm using a fabulous, big-ass old drill press! :)

ha, don't get your hopes up too high, it is the first try which i messed up pretty badly and am currently trying to salvage to something useful. i will still post it when i'm done.
i like the purses though completely different from what i expected. really nice use of the endings of the piece of leather. the one photographed on the hood has some interesting colour accents in the different pictures.

Very cool! Does the Kevlar thread cut through the leather at all? It can cut many things as well as a knife does. Thanks.

I can attest to the battle worthy sheaths Oye makes , i currently have one- with 3 more on the way(yes Three-all with ti blades in them) . I have been abusing them to say the least - and they look just as good as the day they arrived!!!!!! you can ask anyone that knows me i dont just use things- i abuse them!!! Oye makes a top notch product!!
