First weekend of Archery season this weekend in Kentucky ! I'm not gonna get to go this weekend:( anyone else gonna go ?

We have a few weeks yet to wait in Ohio. Definitely plan to be out as much as possible that first week or two.

I'm in Ohio also. Looking forward to the opening day of bow season.

I picked up a new pack of BroadHeads while I was in Tenn. at Bass Pro. ! TrophyRidge/ Rocket AeroHead MiniBlasters 75g  I was really wanting to go this Sat but now they tell me I got to work :( & thne Sunday is Church & then the twins first football game after so it looks like I'm gonna miss another weekend of Bow hunting :o

We don't start here until Oct 4th for bow, and then rifle where I hunt don't start until Nov. 21. However we don't finish until mid February on the 15 and we can still squirrel and rabbit hunt till March.

Sept 15th is opening day here in CT. I actually took it off this year, looking forward to the season for sure.

Just got back from a hard 4 day hunt. We get to hunt deer and elk at the same time :D We still have three more weeks here to hunt. I missed my buck Wednesday. Nice easy 45 yard broadside shot, but there was a twig I didn't see about 35 yards out and my arrow hit it and veered off enough to hit just under the deer...

We usually have the elk located on the first week, but this season they are still a little scattered and only saw three cows, but couldn't close the gap enough.
I'm not comfortable trying 55 yard shots with the wind blowing

Sounds like a great trip ! What kind of Bow you shooting ?

For the last 3 years I have been shooting a Mathews Switch Back.
I've had Bowtechs, Martins and Brownings in the past and they are all great bows. I injured my arm and shoulder a few years back, so I started searching for a bow with the smoothest draw cycle I could find to make it easier, and ended up with the SB. My wife shoots a Mathews Mustang and my son (13) shoots a Mathews Ignition. This will be his last year with it though because he has run out of draw length adjustment and he won't stop growing :D

I've always heard of people having arrows deflect when they hit a tiny twig, but this is the first time I've had it happen. It was the weirdest thing I have ever seen. I'm just glad that when it deflected it missed the deer instead of making a bad hit and wounding it

went saturday morning and had 4 walk by. the only shot i could have taken was on a small spike buck.. the more i looked at him the more i did not want to shoot him.. i love young deer. their meat is fantastic but oh well.. i normally do not bait. i do my homework to get within to bow range so in hindsight.. maybe i should have pegged him lol....

I can't wait to get out again this weekend. A storm front moved in a couple hours ago. We have wind, rain, thunder and lightning...
Saturday should be a great day

The velvet is coming off and the bucks are getting ready as well. Waiting till Oct 1.
