Gentleman...i just recieved these 150t,s (two from CODGER,THANKS CODGER!!!!!)....the one with the rough handle is gonna get the killer stag, pimp job..i did notice a variation in blade length (3/8 of an inch),and that the Craftsman had more belly (and better grind finish)...Also,i noticed that one of them is narrower blade stock?...is this indicative of a timeframe ??..or just supply and demand of material??.....with thanks for any info.........FES

I'm curious about the blade thickness too. Is the thinner blade the Craftsman?

Regarding the other variations, the knife on top appears to have been heavily reworked so any blade length measurements are inaccurate. Sadly, it looks as if someone reground the blade edge, ground the entire blade face, and then buffed the heck out of it. Personally, if I were to pick one of the above to customize with stag handles, this one would be my last choice. The abused blade just isn't worth it. IMO, of course.

The center knife could be in original condition. My unused 15OT has very light striations from the factory running lengthwise down the blade as well. The light reflecting in the photo may be exaggerating those striations. I'd pick this one for a custom handle; the blade is in excellent shape, but the handle has minor problems.

The lower (Craftsman) knife has the original (although worn) finish as evident by the blade etch.

Just an FYI, the knife is a 15OT. As in Old Timer model 15. Getting that correct will help with your internet and forum searches.

BOB....thank you for the reply....The old timer in the centre (top pic) is the narrower stock....And on further reflection the (abused) knife is now my sons and the Craftsman is getting the pimp job as we speak....I agree the centre knife (narrower stock) appears to have factory edge.....I LOVE these knives!!!....good basic ,hard working tools!.......FES

The "Craftsman Old Timer Premier" is the oldest of the three and was made early in the pattern production during the Schrade Walden years. I have no idea why the stock thickness of the knife blanks changed, but it evidently did. Quite possibly it was just what was available from the steel supplier at the time. If you dig up my 15OT research, you can see that the pattern dates from circa 1964. It was not until the later years that the grinding and finishing operations became automated and, as with anything done by hand, some variation was bound to occur.

how is the pimp job coming along? I am thinking about ordering one from china and giving it a new turn with new handle and stuff. I sure do miss my original I got from my dad in 1978. I destroyed it sharpening too thin and chopping down small trees incorrectly.
