defective Seal Pup Elite?

Hi,

I just got SOG Seal Pup Elite and found that the base of the blade is not symmetrical. I mean if you turn the knife with sharp edge looking at you, you can see that the piece of a blade closest to the handle is not symmetrical. I even made a picture of this (available upon request), but cannot attach it.

Did I get defective knife or this is seal pup elite feature?

Thanks a lot.

Sharp edge is "looking" to the viewer. I've circled the asymmetry.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Thanks, KnifeFury!

The knife is lying with the sharp edge up. I circled the well-visible asymmetry.

What do you think, it is a defect? Do your own SOG knives have the same asymmetry?

Well, I just pulled mine (Seal Pup Elite) out of the safe, and to the naked eye it looks perfect. Under a magnifying glass, it's 99.999% symmetrical.

Yours does have an asymmetrical grind, even tho it won't hurt the performance of the knife.

It's your knife. If you're unhappy with this, contact SOG. If it were mine, I'd send it back.

I'm sure Chris will come along soon to address this.

This should not effect the function of the knife and is not really considered a defect. As SPX stated is seems to have an asymmetrical grind. It most likely got ground slightly too much on that side during production. if this really bothers you send me a PM and we can figure this out.

4bg4g;
I have the seal pup elite and my knife is like just a little bit asymmetrical. But I plan to use and abuse this knife so it doesn't matter. I think knives are ground and finished individually so no two will be exactly alike. But if you plan to keep it as part of a collection then maybe you should try to get another one because your knife is more than just a little bit off.

Thanks, Chris. I have sent you a PM.
