Defendokai is a self-defence system practiced here in Holland. For defendokai I'll be making three knives and this is the first prototype. Because it is the first, I used the colours defendokai carries being red white and blue.

www.defendokai.nl

The knife has two sharpened edges, steel is ATS 34 and the grip for this knife is blue G10 (blasted for extra grip).

Please let me know what you guys think....

Looks pretty good. How are you suppose to hold the knife? It might work better with a slight widening at the butt...

Personally, I don't like full tangs that are not tappered, but many people don't seem to care.

I totally agree with Joss, if you are a stock removal guy, and doing a full tang blade, for pete's sake, taper the tang. It works better, and it looks better.

I only buy stock removal, ss knives that have exposed tangs with tapers.

I like it, but i taught it would be in Orange instead of red, blue white:D
I would add a tail on the knife to use in "punjo"

Goed gedaan!

Agree with Mongo-Man upstairs. For me too, I favor a dedicated SD knife with a pointy end for butt or "punyo" striking.

Looks good overall though.

thanks for the comments.

I do both stockremoval and forge knives. Normally my stock removal knives all have a tapered tang. It gives the knife a better balance without weakening the blade, in my opinion.

Since this is a prototype and not my design, I left de tang untapered. Also because I had to find out how to make a good grip out of it. the grip form is very unusual to me. Now I've made it, I must say that it holds pretty well in both normal and revurce grip. I thought the knife would turn very easily in the hand, but because of the curve, the grip is pretty firm.

greeting Toni
