What is the best way (if at all) to carry a khukri concealed or semi-concealed on the person for defensive purposes? What is the safest way to draw the knife from this position? I'm no gladiator, but sometime like to carry a knife instead of a gun when in plainclothes (off duty),preferring not to go totally unarmed. It occurs to me that a khukri might be a great choice, if it could be carried in a fairly subtle manner.Any advice?

I have several customers who carry a khukuri concealed for defensive purposes. Every man has made or had made a shoulder rig which allows him to carry the knife under his arm, under a jacket. The usual khukuri of choice for this purpose is a 12 inch Sirupati.

When Yangdu used to ride the night bus to India she taped a small khukuri to the inside of her thigh.

Bill, are these rigs all locally made, or do you know of an internet source? By the way, how are khukris measured?Tip to tip, or following blade contour, or?Thanks for your help.

I have read where the Bando practioners use the Kuhkuri in thier art.
Is the Kuhkuri used by any other martial arts?

AlaChoktaw, I think Terry Cisco might be able to make you a rig. We have his address and phone number posted under a thread (without checking0 which I think we called "Traditional Scabbard Maker." You might have to supply him with a few measurements so he can fit the rig to your body size.

We measure khukuri length straight across, tip to buttcap, the total reach of the khukuri.
