I have decided I want to get a fixed blade for defense only. It must be very comfortable to carry and easy to conceal. It won't do any good if I don't carry it because it is not comfortable. I prefer to stay under $100 if possible.

I can highly recommend the Cold Steel Safe Keeper 2. This push dagger is highly efficient for self-defense. The T-handle guarantees a safe grip and enables a high-potential push power. The broad blade is ideal for deep slashing. Furthermore the Safe Keeper 2 has the advantage of a fixed blade but is approximately compact as a folder. Both edges of my Safe Keeper were razor sharp and the Concealex sheath is well suited for IWB and belt carry.
My sole complaint relates to the handle material, I wish CS would use a more sturdy material than Kraton.

Is the Camillus CQB-1 too much knife? The CQB-2 is a good knife but, I really prefer the CQB-1 (watch the for sale forum for one and you'll make your $100 target if you're patient).

Do you want something that is single or dual edge?

What type of clothing to you typically wear (i.e. how much flexibility do you have in what your carry)? The reason I ask, is that I know from personal experience what proper attire can do. I carried a Glock 20 in a hip holster while my friends carried mouseguns in various places. A loosse fitting T-shirt and a pair of blue jeans can hid a lot if it is properly stowed ;)

When I carry a fixed blade for defense purposes my first choice is my Dozier NY Special.

I made a horizontal Concealex sheath that I wear on the front of my waist which places the grip of the knife just above and in front of my front left pocket. Did that make sense?

I'd say the companion, but only with a custom sheath from Normark. I hadn't thought much of it until i handled it at a local b&m store. The knife just locks into your grip.

I've got a CS Mini-Culloden with serrations as a "defensive knife only" (hiding under a shirt as a kneck knife), no using it for trimming loose threads and such, that's what the SAK in a pocket is for.

I'd say an Emerson PUK if it had a concealment sheath.
Otherwise, a plain edge M2 Nimravus Cub.
