"Defiance"

yes! I saw a movie playing in Wal Mart one day, and there were Mosins! I found out it was "Golden Compass", and bought it. Pretty good movie.

I had seen previews for "Defiance" and was interested. I followed your link, Tom and now I'm excited to go see it.

I never saw "The Golden Compass"- But I heard it was kinda the atheists answer to "The Chronicles of Narnia."

I didn't take it that way, and I'm a serious minded Christian, or at least I strive to be.

Anyway, I took it as bashing the suppression of free thought and corrupted over organized religion. True Christianity is guilty of neither. But we do sometimes stumble badly. I could see where some might be offended, but I was able to find a way to enjoy it for what it seemed to be, an interesting story. There are a lot of movies with philosophies i don't wholly agree with, including the Star wars series, etc. I try to watch with discernment, and take the opportunity to teach our children as we are watching, so they can learn to sort through these things also.

Hope you like Defiance!

Cool, other Mosin fanatics here.

Didn't know The Golden Compass would have them.

As for being anti-Christian, I try not to read too much into movies unless it's blatant. They are things of the world, and as such I expect them to be opposed to God. Let's be honest, organized religions have been guilty of massive corruption and atrocities since the beginning. Like GT said, Biblical Christianity isn't an organized religion if you follow it the way the Book has it.

Personally, I'm far more offended by movies that claim to be Christian, but grossly misrepresent Christianity.

I've been waiting for Defiance to come out. I watch the trailer on Apple iTunes every time I browse the movies... looks good.

Based on this thread, I went to see it yesterday. An absolutely stellar movie. Thouroughly enjoyed it. Thanks!
