I live in Oregon, where it's legal to carry a knife unconcealed, and of any size aparently. This includes Gravity Knives, which Balisongs are considered as (at least in OR). I have two questions:
1) How do you carry an Balisong overtly? I'd assume a belt sheath, which I hate, but I'm not sure if when the shirt covers it would still be classified as unconcealed. Also, would a pocket clip count as unconcelaed, and if so, should the knife be outside of the pocket with the clip in, or should the knife be inside the pocket with the clip out?
2) By above definition, is it safe to carry a 9.5" fixed blade Bowie on a belt sheath a) in a residential neighborhood and b) in the woods where you're unlikely to be pulled over.
I'd assume that in the woods anything is pretty much safe, but the real question is if it's legal to carry either of these in public. Like if I were walking from my car into my friend's house (about a 5 sec walk), could I be arrested for carrying either of these knives openly on my person? I mean it's not like I'm gonna kill anyone with a Bowie, but it might look like it to someone walking by if I get out of my car with a big knife on my hip and walk into somebody's house.
Well, at least I don't have the suspicious long hair anymore
