Hi, I'm about to go on a roadtrip from NY to Georgia and will be carrying my SAK trekker (3.5" lockblade). My question is am I better off with my belt-pouch or pocket? What is concealed and when is concealed preferred? Is a knife concealed if my shirt drapes over the belt pouch? I will be staying in Atlanta for the weekend, should I worry about this knife and just bring my multi-tool or are SAKs of this size typically acceptable? thanks a lot.

There are so many different local laws that I would not carry one on your person. Keep it in the car trunk. In NYC ( you are from NY) you must carry it concealed. In most other states it should not be concealed. I would not chance getting in trouble if you are pulled over for a minor traffic violation.....

Well, youre headed south, so dont worry about it. People in the south dont really consider a SAK a knife anyway. If a cop arrested someone for toting a SAK, the other cops would laugh at him until he quit. Its what moms carry in their diaper bags to open formula. Down here men carry big fixed blade skinners.

In NYC a belt pouch is not considered concealed. Check Levine's section and look at the NYC Admin laws part.....

IONO about where you live....but here in colorado if you can have just the clip of the knife coming out of your pocket and it is not considerd concealed.
