Greetings all, is it possible for someone to explain what is an early and late lockup? I have a couple of folders that have the lockup bar barely making contact with the locking part of the blade and i would like to know is this an early or late lockup. One of the folders is brand new from the maker.I've seen pics of some folders with the same type of lockup as mine and they were for sale. I also see and hear others say this knife or that knife has about 30-40% lockup as an example.i know this relates to my question but i want to be sure my definition is correct.Even though my folders have this issue the lockup is solid and zero bladeplay I'm just concerned the bar will slip. I hope i made sense in trying to explain my questions. i hope you all can answer my concerns.

Tech Support is for website technical questions. I'll move this to the General Knife Discussion for you.

Yes, early lockup means lockbar settling at outer edge of tang while late lockup is lockbar moving further in towards non-lockbar side. A well built knife with early lockup is generally nothing to be concerned about and liked by most as it gives a "warm & fuzzy" that there is plenty of life left in the lock.

This is what most would call around 45-50% lockup..
