Dejavoo

I held one (mini) and thought of buying one, just never got around too it. Its a quality, comfortable knife, I would pick one up.

My father has the full size Dejavoo, and I have handled the mini. They are well made, with a good flat grind on the blades. I just couldn't warm up to the full sized one, and dismissed the design. But when I recently handled the mini in a store, it feels a lot better in my hand and is a much better contender. Now, if I could just get used to a benchmade with a spydiehole.

Very nice fit and finish, great flat ground blade, nice ergonomics ( in the mini anyway ). Also, Bob Lum is no longer with us, so why not pick up a knife that he designed?

It is definitely a little weird having a spydie hole on a knife that's not a spydie, but look at the popularity of the AFCK....

All in all, I think it's definitely one to have in the collection for any Benchmade lover, but especially for any Bob Lum fans.

If you like a 4 inch blade then it's hard to beat a 710 or a full size Dejavoo.

Beware!!

I bought my first Benchmade 5 months ago ( 740 ). I now have 5 BM's.

I orderd 2 yesterday.... :D

The 740 is the smoothest non assisted opener you will find.:D

I love my Mini. It was my first Benchmade and my first nice knife in many years. It started me down the path of spending too much time and money on folding knives. It also started me looking for the Spyderco Chinese Folder, which is very hard to find.

Both are great knives design and grip wise, the liner locks on the ones I had stuck, or were loose on the subsequent ones. I gave up and moved on to something else.

I've been carrying the 740 (big Dejavoo) now for about 3 months. Yes, very smooth opener. Overall, I'm very pleased with it. It's very light for such a large folder, and carries beautifully, although with jeans it's a little long for front pocket carry...fine with BDU's and such. In back pocket or waist-band I don't even know it's there. The G-10 scales are smooth so if you want a "grippy" knife then maybe it's not for you. The nice thing about that though is it's very slick to remove and stow in pocket. It won't wear out your pants either. One of my favorite things about this knife is the flared handle/guard at the pivot area. With the knife clipped to the pocket (low rider type clip) it's the most naturally deploying folder I've used; just reach down and grab that flared handle with thumb and fore-finger and she's out before you know it. The wide flat ground blade is (haven't used this term in a while) "wicked." It doesn't sound like a steel trap when locking; I had to get used to that. It's like a "snick" with mild "click" thrown in. It is a solid locking, hard using (despite it's elegance) knife. I'd hate to be on the recieving end in SD situation. The only thing I don't like is having to tweak the oh so sensitive pivot screw (torx T-10) about once a week. The Spydie style thumbhole is very natural, though I haven't tried it with gloves-that could be an issue for some. Overall, IMO, Mr. Lum did an outstanding job. Hope this helps.

Almost forgot though, right hand only opening.

I still don't understand why they did this folder in linerlock instead of using the Axis lock. That's the one thing holding me back from picking up the mini.

have both sizes, love em both
may not be up to backpacking challenges, but for EDC it makes a helluva knife

@enderwiggin: i actually think that an axis lock wouldn't have matched Lum's beautiful design, would have been hard(er) to operate on Dejavoo's 3D contoured handle and would have posed some interesting challenges in finding a non-awkward tip-up position for the clip

I had a 745 very briefly but didn't like its liner lock - but every liner lock knife I have ever bought has been sold on. I have now stopped buying them!

The large Dejavoo is excellent -very smoooth!

The small one feels a little small for my hands -but it's still a great EDC.

Benchmade makes a good liner lock. Never had a problem with any of them.I do like the Axis but I still liike a good liner lock. Carrying a 907 right now that is a liner lock.

My Dejavoo is the smoothest opening folder I own. I like the size since I have large (not huge) hands. It feels good to me and that's what counts. The Lum design is very nice. One of my tests of knives is, after I've owned it a few months, do I regret buying it, and this one passes with ease. I wish I could say that about all the others (even some big names I won't name here, don't want to start a war). A lot of forum members get really sensitive when you say their beloved xxxx isn't for you. Get one and enjoy it.

dejavoo is definitely the smoothest folders you can get on the market. F&F is top notch, it is so elegantly beautiful, it looks like a piece of art instead of a knife . I love polished yet sculptured G10 handle, low rider clip, flat grind, stone washed blade........:jerkit:
