I am not sure how this statement ought to be interpreted.

"A person is guilty of unlawfully dealing with a switchblade knife when he sells, offers for sale or has in his possession a knife, the blade of which is released by a spring mechanism or by gravity."

That being stated, does this include spring assisted knives (in particular SOG Flash 2 and Aegis)?

Thanks for your input.

Very interesting wording. In the most technical sense you have to over come resistance to open an assisted opening knife before the spring takes over, but I would not hope to win that arguement with an officer and maybe not in court. Is there another part of the law that defines switchblade or gravity knife any better? If not, I would not EDC one there.....

I live in DE and have searched for the answer to your question with no luck. I've carried AO knives, but have since stopped because I do not like them. I would say your safest bet is find a a good LEO that you can talk to and ask the question.

It's probably going to be one of those officer discretion type things. Report back if you are able to find an answer.

tom: That is the only definition that i saw. It is quite unsettling.

myright: That's a good idea.

If I find any more information I will let you know. If only knife law jargon matched knife technology jargon.

I assume you read this... http://knife-expert.com/de.txt

Nothing that clears anything up in there but interesting reading. I truly think it is up to the officer who finds a knife on you and the who, what and where and why the two of you crosssed paths....

I agree with you, tom, on that point. And thanks for the site. I had read some of that at another location but the one you linked had a bit more info.
