I've been seeing ads lately on YouTube for some subscription service called dude bag where supposedly the first box comes with a " $200 Delco knife " which I was sure was probably a cheap Pakistani thing, but today I looked them up.
The company offers 3-4 models from $150-$200, and they're all supposedly " MADE IN THE USA " and have D2 blades

They don't have the typical Pakistani sheath, but D2 could mean China right ?
something just seems fishy to me here.

Heres a picture I took off their website.

D2 doesn't automatically mean China. Freeman and Dozier use D2. But I have no idea about Delco.

Also almost all of those subscription services send you a bunch of useless junk. Save your money.

I wonder if it’s the same Delco that makes steak knives commonly found in restaurants.

I'm not doing any subscription boxes, just trying to find out about the situation on this questionable knife.

I knew D2 wasn't strictly Chinese, but thought that it might be a red flag these days for an unknown knife.

Looks like it could be manufactured by CFK...

I don't know why anyone would even consider buying one when a Dozier (made by Crotts) Montana Hunter is not that much more and Dozier already has track record of making decent D2... or so I'm told.

I don’t recognize the name, but it looks like something that’s marketed towards the “bushcraft crowd” that watch a lotta tv and YouTube, but never leave the city for more than a day or two.

*just my two pennies

What difference does it make? Ya ain't gonna buy it...
Because many YouTube channels I watch feature paid promotions for this subscription box not knowing it could be BS.
If it is I'll let them know in a comment that they're promoting a scam.

That's the company I couldn't remember that it reminded me of, I was searching CKC which of course I realized was Colonial cutlery.

Remind me, CFK is the US-based importer of Pakistani knives that claims the products are of US origin, right?

Yes, but I think they claimed US made then switched to claiming US finished, then something else ,and now I think they claim UK made with European steel American handle materials and American buffalo scraps for the sheaths.

Knives of Alaska uses D2 and they do a great job with that steel.

Delco is owned by a Veteran and sells only USA made products. The knife could have been made by KOA, looking at the handle design. It says it has a buffalo leather sheath. Sounds pretty nice.

The knife finish and handle material look a lot like CFK and the sheath is a dead ringer for the sheaths CFK supplies.
From what I understand CFK is very sketchy on COO and has even been unwilling to divulge information in the past, so maybe he believes the knives he's sourcing are American made ?

the whole D2 thing doesn't really interest me, pretty much the calling card of scam knives, like "440" stainless used to be.

They sorta look like generic kit knives, could be made in the USA also. I just doubt that a bait seller is also a knife manufacturer.

Yes, exactly.

I know that obviously good reputable manufacturers use it d2, but I also know it's common term on DHgate and such.

Normally I wouldn't care but I keep seeing them promoted on YouTube channels I watch and I'm pretty sure they just don't know.

Some reviews claim the whole deal is a scam out of India .
You can't save everyone from themselves . :(

Anybody plunks down serious money on gear and does't bother to even read the facebook reviews ... o_O

I actually have no idea. However, it seems like OP has chimed in on this.

I had a feeling the stuff wasn't actually made in the states. I just have seen some of their stuff in passing and the knives always seemed suspect.

I bought the box just to see if this is a cheap pakistan rebranded knife. I will say the sheath does seem pretty decent quality. It does have the delco branding on the blade. I feel like they own the dude bag, mostly because it seems like both companies are in Oklahoma. End of the day it feels like a 50 dollar knife. I can attach some photos if needed.
