Hello,

I'd like to request deletion of my account. I'm new here, and tried to purchase from someone in the axe forums but ended up getting scammed - I received an email from a person with the same name as a seller here.

I didn't know about private messages, and I just naively assumed it was the person in question. Sent PayPal F&F so yup, that's on me.

Anyways, this has made me not want to participate here any longer, and I'd like to request account deletion.

Well... You could try just never typing that url in again and we will all pretend you never existed. There's no way to self destruct. Even getting banned will not delete you. The best you can do is clear out all your posts and then go away. We promise never to mention you or think about you again.

Accounts are not deleted, your only option is to log off and not return.

or..... stick around. Slow down, learn some stuff, meet some great people.

People forget what the internet is.

You wouldn't go into a Wonderful strange bar in a strange city, slap a $100 bill on the bar, get a drink, then walk off to go pee with the remainder on the bar?
Or let a stranger peek in your wallet?
idk why so many people get taken.... maybe the forum should have a half year pause or time out for new people before they are allowed to buy (and get taken advantage of)
they need to learn the ropes, so to speak

Just hang out and watch for a bit..... listen to the wind in the trees.... eventually word gets out, and we hear/learn stuff, If we listen.

I Also think that the Sellers need to start being MORE proactive. They are actually loosing Their sale to these frauds.
 
While none of us are happy these thieves are preying on members, it is poor practices such as you exibited that keep them around. It was totally avoidable.
But if you care to blame the forum rather than yourself and the thief, just don't log on.
