So I'm calling on you forum fellows for opinions and multiple eyes. I got this Bugout in a trade as a throw in recently and I noticed these things at first. I put it away and didn't think much of it because I already have one that I carry daily to work as a beater. I brought it out recently to take a better look and found some interesting features.

Firstly, the blade grind is completely different than my original. As you can see the plunge is curved and doesn't go as high as the original. The. blade itself is also wider and even has more belly than the original. The "S30V" font is also much different. The butterfly logo is also raised and able to be felt whereas the original blade's logo is flush to the surface.

While taking the photos I found that the thumbstuds were longer on the green version. I also realized that the handle is actually longer on the presumably fake version, and possibly the clip as well. This was the tipping point for me as regardless of the blade, the handle shouldn't be a completely different length on the same model of knife.

I did look into the blade grind when I first got it and found that many people said that Benchmade started using a different grind on the newer stock of Bugouts, so I wrote it off and put it away. But like I said I looked further today and these are my findings.

I'm mainly curious if any of you guys have seen this before out in the wild as this is my first case of a possible fake with any knife, so I'm interested in hearing what you think!

Not sure on this one. I have the exact same one as the blue one and it's identical to yours. May want to post over in the Benchmade section. The Mod over there is quick to respond.

On a side note. What is up with people cloning/copying Benchmade. This is yet another discussion of a Benchmade copy issue.

Yeah the blue one is good to go but the green one is the one that's different. I think it was moved to the Benchmade section already

The Ranger green should have a coated blade also. If we are voting - I would vote fake

I forgot to mention that as well. That was my first red flag. I thought maybe a blade swap? But everything else just doesn't add up

The green color is off too, as well as the clip. Yeah, the Bugout on the right looks buggy.

Sigh. I agree. Luckily this was an extra in a trade and I already had one, but it still kind of sucks. The Crooked River I got as the other half of the same trade was legitimate so this one confused me. Could be an honest mistake though, never know.

I know Benchmade has a tool to customize a Bugout so it wouldn't have to be a black blade necessarily. Other pieces of it just scream fake to me.

True but I don't know anyone that would just release a custom Benchmade lol But besides that everything else is just blatantly obvious. This is the first time I've ever been in possession of a fake so it's all a learning experience for me

Maybe contact the person you got it from? At least share the truth with them.

DBK did a video comparing the real ranger green bugout vs fake ranger green bugout, it was very helpful...

Hope this helps!
Oh wow that's cool that they did that! The one in that video had similar problems mine had, but the biggest was the different grind. I ended up contacting the person I got it from and we worked it out, he's gonna check it out when he gets it
