So I'm calling on you forum fellows for opinions and multiple eyes. I got this Bugout in a trade as a throw in recently and I noticed these things at first. I put it away and didn't think much of it because I already have one that I carry daily to work as a beater. I brought it out recently to take a better look and found some interesting features.
Firstly, the blade grind is completely different than my original. As you can see the plunge is curved and doesn't go as high as the original. The. blade itself is also wider and even has more belly than the original. The "S30V" font is also much different. The butterfly logo is also raised and able to be felt whereas the original blade's logo is flush to the surface.
While taking the photos I found that the thumbstuds were longer on the green version. I also realized that the handle is actually longer on the presumably fake version, and possibly the clip as well. This was the tipping point for me as regardless of the blade, the handle shouldn't be a completely different length on the same model of knife.
I did look into the blade grind when I first got it and found that many people said that Benchmade started using a different grind on the newer stock of Bugouts, so I wrote it off and put it away. But like I said I looked further today and these are my findings.
I'm mainly curious if any of you guys have seen this before out in the wild as this is my first case of a possible fake with any knife, so I'm interested in hearing what you think!
