Just got my first winkler axe today. And realizing I don’t really know what the best way to sheath and unsheath would be. It’s a stealth axe lt, with the standard felt lined kydex sheath. It would seem like the best way to put it back into the sheath is to insert the rear spike first and then pivot the front in. But any method seems to put a lot of force and wear into the felt lining

Yes that is normal. I have it also on two of my winkler axes

Doing it this way just a couple times has started to peel the felt away from the kydex.
Not sure what’s causing your issue.

I have several Winkler axes, edge out first when removing and spike in first when inserting, no issues with the felt lining.

Curious, did you purchase the Stealth new or used?

New. With the particular shape of this axe and sheath, inserting spike first then pushing the blade end into the sheath contacts the felt lining from outside edge where it is attached, rather than closer to the opening where it could begin to pry the sheath open.
Also, I don’t mean this to be a criticism in any kind of way. This is my third winkler and definitely won’t be the last. Just trying to make sure I know what I’m doing before inquiring about it
