I haven't used the WSGSS. It looks gimmicky to me with it's pivoting plate/bed. But again, I haven't used it.

The SharpMaker is fantastic. I have used one a lot. The main thing is, it can't really fix extremely dull or damaged blades without the diamond or CBN rods. I don't own either of those. I use "real" stones or plates or the WorkSharp Ken Onion on blades that need more attention. I only use the SharpMaker for light sharpening duties.

If you're serious about sharpening, you'll probably end up with multiple systems. I have way too many, but I'm by far not the most well equipped person here. Some people have dozens of stones and systems.

Anyway, I'm not sure if that helps, but I hope it gives you a little more to go on.

I’ve used both,,, I think the WorkSharp Guided Sharpener is by far the better and more capable sharpener. Much more capable than the sharpkeeper,,,, errrr sharpmaker.
