I can't say for sure unless you post pics, but every sebenza I've ever used has had slight marks where the clip contacts the scale once I take the clip off. It hasn't bothered me personally. My guess is that there's really no way to avoid it with ti contacting ti causing a smooth spot in the blasted finish. My advise is not to worry about it and to use it.
 
spoke to the vendor, so i figured I would take that whole thread off. thanks though, Im sending her back.
