I am trying to find someone out there that would be able to build a metal backspacer for my delica 4. I am looking for an added threaded window punch on the end. I will be eventually getting non-nested liners and full on g-10 or wood scales for it. If anyone knows who to get ahold of please let me know. I already contacted STR and he will not work on spyderco stuff anymore.

spyderco makes one for the g-10 delica. I'm told it'll swap, but I haven't gotten around to trying to order one from spyderco yet. Don't know if they'd even sell it actually...

Yeah i called spyderco and they will sell the cheaper frn parts kit but they will not sell either the backspacer or the full non nested liners off of the G-10 model which makes zero sense to me.

I don't know if that would work. The FRN models use nested liners while the G10 models use full-length liners. The thickness for the G10 model's metal backspacer might not accommodate a FRN model.

Agreed in that I doubt it'd be a direct fit, but with some sanding of the FRN, or spacer and who knows? Never got to get the parts myself, but scotsmanspride's post means it could be a pain to get the part to try. Still like the idea

But in both cases, the backspacer has to be the same thickness as the blade and lockbar.

Given all the planned mods, it might be more cost effective to shop around for a good price on a G-10 Delica, then sell the FRN one.

I would buy a g-10 model but then that would be too easy! I like to own things and make them my own. The backspacer i am looking for is one i have seen but cannot find a picture of. It is raised around 1/8th " above the back and has filed areas for grip/strike use from best i can figure.

I recall seeing some like that, although I don't recall them being for the Delica. In any event, I think they might have been done by the gent whose forum name is gullwing.

I'd suggest getting custom scales done by Philip Dobson or blog.cuscadi.de, and adding them to a G10 Delica.

Looks like my memory hasn't failed completely yet. Found the thread over on the Spyderco factory forum where gull wing made that type backspacer for a Sage II.
