Just got my Delica 4 FFG grey in the mail today. I've been reading that you have to break Delicas in before they'll open/close as smoothly as they should.

Anyone know how long/how many cycles until my knife will be broken in?

Also what components are being broken in? It seems like the lock bar (smoothness where it contacts the tang of the blade, and tension from the spring in the lock) is what is slowing down the opening/closing of the Delica.

Any thoughts or advice?

All lockback knives have a strong detent. That is what you are experiencing. I've owned a dozen or so Delicas through the years, and they all had a strong detent, even after years of use. My advice is not not flick your knies open, it does nothing but prematurely damage. You don't need to break the knife in, open it in a calm manner as not to alarm anyone or draw uneeded attention to yourself.

Well my concern for the smooth opening isn't really for flicking the knife open, more with one handed closing
