Here is a copy of a thread at the spyder forum posted by Sal Glesser regarding the much anticipated Delica 4 in ZDP.

"The "numerous" schedules are the result of getting the steel. Apparently Hitachi's lead time is long and inconsistent.

The first change, (from the Delica3 to the Delica4 format), slowed down the process some 6 months.

The Emerson "waves" should be shipping soon (they're here). I expect the ZDP Delica to be here very soon.

They are all sold out from our end. Anyone that is getting them already has them ordered.

It would appear that if you didn't pre-order or get on a waiting list, you may have a hard time finding them. He states that Spyderco has already sold out what they are making.

thats cool - I'd buy one, but I already bought the vg-10 version and I have NO problems with this steel.

I'm REALLY hoping my vendor can get them up here. I ordered one in Jan or so. If I get one, fine, but I'm not holding my breath either:) I already have 4 Delica 4's:D

Ah, love4steel-san, but what happens if you get in knife fight and honorable opponent has ZDP version and uses to cut your knife in half like in movie show? What then, grasshopper?

:D

I've had 2 pre-ordered since November. From what Sal said, I hope my dealer gets his full order, and that there hasn't been a substantial price adjustment.

I guess that brings up another question. Can/should a dealer re-adjust the price on this now based on supply and demand? It's basic economics I guess, but I sure would be bummed, thinking I had "purchased" these at a lower price.

I know I couldn't touch a ZDP Calypso junior now for what I paid during it's initial release.

For any Pre-Orders, the price should be as quoted at the time of the Pre-Order. If a dealer reneged on that, and assuming that Spyderco didn't jack the price way up, I would never deal with that dealer again.

As far as individual sales that were not Pre Ordered, then I think that its fair for the dealer to charge as they want or at the level that the market would support.

So, let me get this straight, there won't be any available to people that didn't preorder?

Hmmm, any word on the low ride clips? I'm happy with my Delica and was thinking about purchasing an Endura in the coming months. Either a Delica or Native as a gift for my father for Father's Day too. Just making sure I don't miss out on some nifty options coming out sometime soon.

Low ride (deep pocket) clips are not yet in production.

The latest Endura4 & Delica4 variations are the Emerson "wave" models which are shipping now and the upcoming ZDP Delica version.

Alright, thanks for the info. I'm probably just going to get him a Native when I pick myself up one. Quite an overdue purchase for how comfortable the knife feels in my hands. :)
