Delica 4 pivot screw broken!

I was oiling my Delica 4 and when I went to tighten the pivot back up the head of the screw snapped off  !

The shaft of the screw is still screwed into the bolt

Does anyone know if I can buy a replacement bolt and pivot screw at a hardware store?

Are the dimensions pretty common or are they specialized bolts and screws?

Contact Spyderco CS, they should provide one at no charge.. and can we see pics? I'd like to see it (not that I don't believe you, but I just curious), it is a pretty big solid hunk of steel, so probably a lemon..

Not criticizing or blaming but did you torque that done extra hard or do you unscrew and re-screw it all the time.

I am again not blaming but wow seems like it would take a lot to do that

Looks like the screw head to me, just a tad to the right of the open clip cut-out/pivot area. It seems like it was being stripped from not using the right bit.

In the picture there is: The pivot with the head of the screw broken off. And also the head of the screw (the bottom where it broke from the rest of the screw, not the top of the screw with the torx interface...)

I am using a T9 to tighten/loosen the pivot, information I found on bladeforums...

works for me, i was just curious. I hope they (Spyderco) respond quickly for you. I have not had to send any of mine in but I hear the are excellent at what they do

Thanks kniferbro, makes sense. I guess a soft batch of screws.

the only screws I've ever stripped are all from Spydercos. everytime I asked them to send me a replacement screw, they reminded me disassembly voids the warranty(because apparently knife maintenance is more difficult than say, gun maintenance) and then nothing shows up in the mail.

My ACU Military came out of the box with a stripped screw, and I had to request the dealer to request Spyderco for a replacement screw.

I agree. Brand new knives that came stripped to me include: Endura wave, Military, Dragonfly salt (not sure if this is true for salt series, but the pivot just turns and turns), and stretch 2.

That's strange. I've seen in more than one post over the years where Sal Glesser states that they batch test every little piece and part of the knives. I've never taken apart a Spyderco though. My most used was old pinned construction Enduras.

Hmmm so they may not send me a screw? I haven't dissassembled the knife, just some loosening and tightening of the pivot, which I thought was ok since the knives are advertised with "adjustable pivot tension"

that was just my personal experience. they said they'd send me one, but nothing ever showed up. e-mail them or call them, or your dealer like I did if contacting them directly doesn't work.
