Delica 4 pivot screw tension?

Hi. My Delica 4 is my very first Spyderco and I must say that I love it. My question is regarding the pivot screw tension. How tight should the screw be? I made it fairly tight as I've noticed that with regular use the screw does tend to loosen and I'm scared it comes out but the blade is very stiff now. Any advice?

Welcome to Bladeforums. You can remove the screw, clean it off, and apply a drop of blue Loc-tite. Then replace the screw, adjust the screw to its proper tension, and leave it alone for 24 hours. The Loc-tite will dry, and then hold the screw in place so that it won't ever loosen up until you apply a torx bit to it. You want the screw to be just tight enough so that there is no side to side blade play when the knife is open, but not so tight that the blade is difficult to open.

Thanks a lot! Okay I'll give the loc-tite a try. I considered it but was unsure if I would end up damaging the thread when loosening te screw in future. I now have the peace of mind. That should solve my problem.

Use the blue one and you should be good. Avoid the stronger red stuff.

I've got two delicas that I've carried for long periods of time. I've never had any issue with the pivot screws coming loose at all. I tighten them until I feel them to be starting to be tight, then back off until there is very little friction when opening the blade. I haven't adjusted the pivot on the one I'm carrying in over a year. Though I did add a drop of FrogLube to it recently and it really made it open easier. :)

Brian.
