So, I got gifted a Delica 4 a few months ago, and I haven't really noticed until now but there is blade play in all directions. No matter how tight I crank the pivot screw down, there is side to side play. Also it has a bit of up and down play.. Im pretty sure I've voided the warranty so no returning it or sending it in, but I wanted to know if this was a common issue.

How did you void the warranty?
I'm asking because if you took it apart the washers on these are finicky and can get misaligned and damaged when reassembling and can cause the side to side play.
Up and down play happens on these lockbacks sometimes and there's not much you can do about that. Not much of an issue as long as it's not slipping.

Is it play or flex in the side to side? As far as the up and down, as long as its not to drastic a little is to be expected in a $55 lockback.

You shouldn't have any side to side with the pivot tightened all the way down. If you do then something is wrong. Up and down is something you will probably have to live with.

I didn't take it apart but I stripped the paint off of the pocket clip.

its mostly play even though there is some flex

Hmmm, how bad is the play? If it bothers you I would suggest taking a look at a little more sturdy knife like a native 5 or para 2.They shouldn't void the warranty if the clip is stripped, they just dont want you to take your knife apart.

I was just in the shop yesterday looking at the HAP40 delica and it had side to side as well. We were all talking about how the FRN has a little play. It shouldn't be too much though. Could you make a short video and post it. I'd like to see how much it moves. Thanks!

I have a para 2 and manix 2. maybe i got spoiled as to how solid they are.

I've got an old Delica 2 that has play up and down but not side to side. It's probably not gonna fail, so I use the heck out of it. Send it in if it bothers you, but if not, use it!

Stripping a clip does not void a warranty. Send it in. It's only going to cost a few bucks for priority mail or UPS

I had one Delica (superblue) that had an an excessive amount of side to side play. I sent it into the dealer where I purchased it and they sent me a replacement. The replacement, and every other delica I've handled have had no issues. If it is too much to consider acceptable, send it in. If it's just your OCD acting up a little (mine does from time to time ;)) then I would just use it and enjoy it.

I had a Stretch FRN that had a lot of play, sent it back for a refund. As far as voiding the warranty, I would just send it in anyway, they usually take a reasonable approach on such things.
