I've had and been carrying a D4 since the beginning of this month. I was wondering if anyone else had to tighten the pivot pin on a regular basis. I'm finding I have to do it fairly regularly. I didn't know if this was normal or not.

I do tend to play (open and close) with it a lot. :D

I was just wondering if anyone else had to do this regularly. I've had to do it pretty much weekly. It's not a big problem. I'm just curious.

Thanks

I havent had to do that on mine...but a little blue loctite should fix the problem :D

I normally take time at the end of the week to "tune" my knives. You know clean them and do a quick check up on the edge and if I need to I adjust the pivot. I don't own a Delica but I do have an Endura and even though I do not carry it I do mess with it... ALOT. But I do have to check the pivot more than my other knives. I'd get some blue loctite.

My Delica tends to loosen up pretty quickly with use, too.

Loctite, a small drop of glue, or some Teflon tape will help a lot.

About once every couple of months. This is with moderate use EDC. No problem. It gets loose to a certain point then will not get any looser.

Out of all my knives, I have to adjust the E4 fairly often. Blue loc-tite fixed that, though.

Thanks for the replies. Next time I'm out and about I'll see about picking some loc-tite up.

Well I think I have everything fixed. :)
I picked some loc-tite up last week and used it but I tightened things up a little more than I liked. It was really easy to un-do, clean up and reapply.
Got the tension right this time. Not tightened down all the way but maybe a quarter turn from all the way.
Thanks again for the suggestions. I'd never used loc-tite in a non industrial application. I only knew of the red that isn't so easy to work with if you ever want to remove the screw.
My EDC for the past 11 years was a Delica 3 so I never had anything to adjust or anything to work itself loose.

Now a loose screw (at least on the knife :D) is one less thing I have to worry about.

Great, I hope you don't have any more problems w/ it. Sometimes a little lubricant will get on the screw and it will work loose even if it has loctite on it. In such a case use alcohol or something similar to clean the screw real well and then reapply the loctite.

It wasn't a huge problem really. I just got it the first of this month and with any new knife I found myself "playing" with it constantly while I wasn't doing anything else so it was being opened and closed a lot.

I'm sure even without the loctite I'd have noticed long before the screw came out but it's nice to know it won't be an issue at all now.
