I just received my Delica 4 SS PE today ($45 shipped), and it was not what I was expecting. The blade is not as pointy as older Delica models, which I just found out. Anyways, I was thinking about getting a Delica 4 Waved model, and I wanted to make sure the blade point is not the same as the Delica 4 that I have. Can someone post a high res pic of the Delica 4 Waved, focusing on blade?

All of the gen 4 delicas and enduras have had the tip beefed up compared to the gen 3s that includes the waved models i belive.

sure...here is some pics of mine, but I wish I would have read this post earlyier when I had good light...the pictures are crappy, but you should be bale to get the idea...

This one is a user but it has not been resharpened yet, still has the factory edge...

Thank you very much cutlerylover! It has been decided for me, sell/return/get rid of the SS PE and get a wave! I can't stand the little bump near the tip of the Delica 4 (I hope people know what I'm talking about). It is very hard to notice in the general pictures on dealer sites. I tried taking a pic of it, but my camera couldn't catch it.

Im not sure exactly what your talkign about but I cna tell you that the Waved Delica 4 is one nice knife...I use the wave feature all the time, faster than an auto...locked and ready to go as soon as you pull it out of your pocket, and with the delica 4's you have great grip as well as metal liners for extra strength...

Since my camera blows, I can't point it out exactly. The next best thing is to borrow someone's pictures from another forum. This pic was taken by Capone from Spyderco.com forums.

What I was talking about earlier is the tip of the Delica 4s. I didn't know it was different from the older Delicas until I got my Delica 4SSPE today. It was really hard to tell by looking at a picture of just one knife.
A new Delica 4 Wave should be coming to me next week! The only problem I have now is to get rid of the Delica 4 SSPE; I really don't like the point. :(

OHHHH, I see what you mean now...Well, you can put it on ebay...or you cna put it here up for trade? I would suggest puttign it up for sale here, but you can't unless you upgrade to a paying membership...but you can put it up on knifeforums.com in the sale section for free...

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will try to trade it first. Maybe I shouldn't have bought a waved one so quickly.

To me the point on even the waved model looks about the same as the regular model. The spine still comes down to meet the edge rather than having a straight spine like the old model. The old "spinter picker" point is the best.

Do you think it is possible to alter the blade so that the spine is straight for the delica 4?

Hi Dvsdvd,

The new tip was very carfeully designed to avoid the problems of the earlier tip while still perform as well.

Have you considered using the knife before judging the performance of the tip?

sal

Sal, I actually did not consider using the knife after I opened the box to examine it. I suppose that I am FIRST concerned with aesthetics before performance. Sadly, I do not get to use ANY knife as much as I want to. At first, I only wanted one or two, but looking/reading about knives got me hooked.

All I know is I have a delica 4 Waved and it is a sweet knife...I never owned previous delicas to sompare with the tip issue your saying, but I can say the new ones are just awesome!!! I wouldn't change it a bit...maybe the change was to reinforce the tip? I know that these are just top notch knives for the money, and if maintained can last a lifetime!!!

Hi Dvsdev,

I've been told that the "fugly" appearance of Spyderco folders does not make them a popular "aesthetics" line, unless of course your "aesthetics" are based on "form follows funtion".....in which case you should enjoy the refined / evolved design. ;)

Sal,
That is kind of funny...when I was first getting into knives, I never really liked the Spyderco appearance. After considering "form follows function," they started to grow on me.

I understand. When I first got into knives (collecting), I was all about daggers, because of their appearance.

The more you learn about knives, steel and performance, the better Spyderco looks.

I like knives that loom good, we all do, but when it comes down to it they are tools, and 10 out of 10 times I will grab the one that works the best despite its appearence...spyderco knives are unique to me, not ugly...lol...unique is a good thing!
