Delica blade swap question

I really liked the delica titanium scales on the Damascus blade version, but I don't like the blade. So I bought a ZDP-189 delica and swapped the blades. As I understood it, you need to swap the back lock too, but that's where I have a problem. I swapped both, but when I had everything together, it had a little forward/back play on the blade. Probably a half mm, but it meant the blade didn't have the rock solid lockup every other Spyderco I have, has. So I tried the lock that came with the Damascus blade, and it fits like a glove. At the same time, when I installed the Damascus blade in the green body that came with the ZDP delica, it too, didn't like the lock. Once I swapped the locks, both were solid.

I can't believe that maybe I mixed the locks up, because I had two separate microfiber towels that I disassembled both on, but who the hell knows. Maybe I lost my mind for a second. In any case, they both are solidly locking and smoothly opening, so I shouldn't worry, yes?

Here's the Ti/ZDP (with one of Casey's Ti short deep carry clips)

And here's the Damascus

I actually think the Damascus blade looks pretty good with the green scales. But I don't need it so I'll be putting it up at some point.

If they lock up solid, I don't see an cause for concerns.

They both look Great!
That ti looks Killer with the satin blade!!!!
And so does the green one!
But I really like the ti one!

You shouldn't have any problems selling the green one..

Very classy mods. That Lynch clip sets that Ti Delica off nicely. Damascus looks more subdued with the BRG as well. Good eye. I've never swapped blades so I'm no help there...

I would trim the frn around the swing area of the blade to prevent light scratches.

Just did that to my Hap40 DF2 and already did it to my Stretch and Delica..
It has seemed to help smooth up opening and closing, as well as keeping the scratches away.

@mchad, Can you sell the damascus blade to me? I'd love to use it for a project I'm working on. All I need is the blade and the internals, you can keep the BRG scales.

glad to see the blade swap worked, I'll be doing it myself with an endura before long.
