I just purchased this knife from a dealer friend at a recent show. I was told that there was approx. 1,000 made. It has a combo edge with a greater serrated portion on the blade compared to all of the other Delica's I have seen. Do any of you know anything about it?

Regards,

Tom Carey

That sounds like the blade on my Delica. It has a zytel clip(not the small one on the originals, and not the one on the Delica's now), and a G-2 steel blade, right? It is about 30% plain edge and 70% serrated. I always wondering what the deal was on this Delica.

Blades,

Yes mine has the G2 blade. Sounds like we have the same thing. Seems no one knows so far what the story is heh. The box mine came in was dead plain. I am not sure if that is the way all Spyderco's boxes used to be or not.

Spyderco used blank boxes for a while before the printed ones came in. Better to ship in plain boxes then not ship at all. The variation that you are speaking of may in fact be an anomoly. Sometimes a model is changed slighty. We don't always keep records of these variations.

As I remember, there was a batch that was run for a speecial dealer as an exclusive. The first shipment had the wrong ratio of plain/serrated edge. We sold them off as an anomoly and remade the pieces for the dealer.
More than likely, you have one of these. I don't remember how many were made (a senior moment, no doubt), but 1,000 sounds about right. "Mystery History"

Thank you for the info Sal. Written above the model numer on the box was (1-of-1000). I was not sure if that was something that was added at the factory or if someone did to try to make it appear as if it was a limited run. I would say $20. NIB is a good idea regardless of how many of them there are

Well that figures. Only 1000 or so made and I've been using it like crazy for 5 years now. Oh well.
