Hello all,

This is my first post! After lurking I couldn't seem to find any posts relating a Delica with a G-2 blade.

I was going through my drawer and found a nearly new Spyderco Delica Clipit with a G2 stainless blade.

Can anyone help me figure out the approximate year this came out? I have narrowed it to 1990-1998. It does have the plastic clip and full serated blade. Back side of Blade has Seki-City Japan.

Thanks for any help,

David

dr427,
Welcome to Bladeforums!! :)
I bought a Delica in Oct/Nov 1993 that has the Gin-2 blade, and plastic clip. I'm not sure when the blade steel changed again after that. Someone here or at www.spyderco.com forum should be able to narrow the time frame down some more. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the Bladeforums, dr427.;)

I can't help you too much with the date your Delica came out, but as Blades mentioned you could contact Spyderco at www.spyderco.com, for the info. They have an excellent service department. I'm having the same dilemma with a Native that I got today. It's an older model version that's made with the GIN-1 steel.

Hope you find what you need. :D

I think they were first available in 1992. I bought one in 1993. Around the later part of 1995, they switch to AUS-8. I could swear this is how they were stamped. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

Thanks for your help. In my research I actually found one on ebay that was labeled "New Old Stock" and was approximately 8 years old. It ended selling at $71.75! Very tempting! I emailed him to find out if it was a G-2 as well.

Thanks again,

David
