Delica: G10 or FRN?

I've been considering a Delica and was wondering what the opinions are on G10 vs. FRN (cost aside). I'm more interested in the feel of one over the other given the differences in grip and weight. Yeah, I know, get both, right?

Well it's a really subjective thing. Especially since you state "feel" as your chosen criteria. I personally prefer the FRN but that's mostly because it's lighter and seems more contoured to fit my hand. Others may like the G10 for how it fits their hand.
I like the bi-directional texture for security as well. It's not abrasive but it gives a good surface for security.
Also, at least to me, the G10 version feels very handle heavy and not as balanced feeling as the FRN version.

Cost and aesthetics aside I would get the FRN as it is lighter, better balanced and is easier to deploy from and return to your pocket. That being said I find it unrealistic to make a knife purchase without considering cost and aesthetics. Considering "feel" only I would get the FRN unless you place a high value on heft. I have both and include them in my EDC rotation. Both are great knives and the G10 version is stunning with a polished clip replacing the standard black clip.

FRN feels like "utilitarian" while the G-10 feels "premium." If I had to get just one, the G-10 every time.

i know this isnt your main consern, but the g-10 has a ffg(full flat ground) blade and the FRN has a saber ground blade. UNLESS of course you are talking about the ffgs delicas in frn.

My g-10'delica is one of my all time favorite spydercos , but then again I'm very partial to well built spyderco lockbacks :D

I have a g10 Delica, love it. Built like a tank and holds a screaming edge. V-10 is one of my favorite steels, and this one just falls into my hand like it was built for it. I have never handled a FRN one though.

My g-10'delica is one of my all time favorite spydercos. . . .

Me too. I EDC'd mine for several years before I switched to a BM940SBK:

Sorry about the blurry cell phone pic, but you get the idea.

That's not a delica ! It's a spyderco standard and is a little smaller than a delica!!!! I have the same knife with a spyderedge and love it !!!

I prefer the lighter weight and balance of the FRN version myself, not a big fan of G-10 lockbacks (at least when they have steel liners), too handle heavy IMO.

I prefer the FRN flat ground..it feels good, it's light, super sharp slicer and reasonably priced... I have a G10 foilage green Endura, it's a nice knife but it's heavy compared to my FRN Enduras...Honestly for about the same money you could buy a new Para 2. The G10 Delica is a nice knife but way over priced,,IMOP

I'd recommend the FRN Delica in a FFG. It will cut just as good as its G10 version and is a lot cheaper. If you're really curious about a G10 lockback design, try out a Caly 3.5.

Wow - I always thought it was a Delica (it was a gift, and that's what the box said). I wonder what happend. In any case, it was a bit small for me, and I up-sized to the BM940. But that was a bit large for me, so I down-sized (but up-graded) to a small Sebenza. I do, however, get nostalgic occasionally and carry that Spydie - it's a solid lockback, and the G-10 is pocket-worn.

I have, and enjoy, both. The frn is my edc, and the G10 my "dressier" blade. I strip all of my clips and agree that the stripped bead blasted look goes well with the g10.

Thanks guys. I really like the "premium" feel of the G10 as mentioned above and have one on the way.
