The Delica 4 is one of my favorite blades. Recently I sold a Wharncliff and bought a blue FFG from DLT. I asked them to check the action but when I started opening it its really gritty on the transition from the closed position, right about where it goes from flat to rounded. It feels a little jerky almost but really gritty (definitely not smooth like all my past Delicas. The whole was a little sharp too.
I thought about taking it apart and using fine sandpaper to smooth out the grittiness, but I don't want to and still end up with a similar result. I hate to send it in. Little disappointed.

Thoughts?

Squirt lighter fluid or Goo Gone into the pivot to flush it out. Hi-pressure air to blow it out real good. A drop or two of your favorite knife oil and you should be a lot smoother than before.

Or you can do like I do and disassemble, clean, polish, oil and put it back together.

I'm positive its the back of the blade just before the transition when you push it from the closed position.
Maybe I should call DLT tomorrow. I hat to send it back in but I'm not real happy with it now. The clip doesn't feel tight on my jeans either, today was the first time I've tried opening it or carrying it for a few hours.

You can see grooves in the back of the blade even on the rounded part there are lines. I think that dark spot is a dented groove (lack of better term).

I wrote DLT. Maybe I should have done that first. I was thinking about fixing it myself is the only reason I started the thread but I don't want to open it up since its brand new incase its worse than I think.

I do most of the inspections and must have missed it, sorry to see that you received it in less than ideal condition. Send me an email with your order number and we will get it exchanged for one that is good to go, I will go over the replacement especially carefully.

I sent you guys an email. Not sure I know my order number, maybe I can find it. It was a week ago or so. You guys usually do great.

DLT is my go to ... they have the great customer service ... they are all knowledgable and want to help make your buying experience great.

I had just placed an order today and in less than 5 minutes I got a phone call reminding me about their rwo day free shipping through FedEx right now ...

now that is above and beyond ... so hats off to DLT and the staff.
