Delica II and Endura II: any opinions?

I realize both these knives have AUS-6 steel, but that doesn't bother me. In my experience, Spyderco (and some other companies) seem to heat-treat AUS-6 to get the best out of it, resulting in a decent steel.

My question revolves around, has anyone here used one of these models regurlarly, and how do you feel about them overall? I think the Delica II might be (I could be wrong) the least expensive SS-handled Spyderco knife. I'd actually lean more toward that, due to its size, and plain edge.

I had a Delica II. The fit and finish on it were excellent but I gave it away because it was too heavy. The Calypso Jr. is much easier to carry.

I agree with Frank, the Delica II is a sweet knife, but is quite hefty. I like the FRN better.

I have two Delicas, a I and II. Both of them are the lightweight FRN versions which I like very much, also the black handle is less conspicuous in my suit pocket while at work. The handle of the II is easier to grip than the I and the cut out on the lock release is a definate improvement as well. I like mine very much and it is my daily carry.

James, the plain Delica II was my daily carry for 2 years. Not the most tactical but it did everything I asked it to and it's lockup and ergonomics are nicer than some of it's bigger cousins. A plain FRN Native in 440V is my new daily carry. The Delica is my travel/home knife.

I have an Endura 11 and carry it daily in my right hand pocket. I carry a lightweight handle Delica in my left pocket. The best of both worlds.I love the heft of SS handle plus it makes a good of Kubaton (skull crusher).

I bought an Endura 11 When it first came out (98). It is the fully serrated model, when I was going through a fully serrated phase!

Anyway that knife had until recently been a daily carry for two years. It has cut and cut and cut! Hell it even cut a tin can in half! Took it as well, needed a bit of sharpening however

.

The blade is now scratched down both sides thanks to my mum using a Scotchbrite pad to clean it after cutting frozen bread and meat (had a hard life!). I used a gun metal polish and chrome cleaner to polish it up a bit. It still looks a bit scruffy however. I will have to get some fitz on import to fix it up...

Well after all that the clip broke one day (replaced free by Spyderco recently COOL!)and it was retired. The clip is now back on and amazingly the blade is still as tight as it was NIB. Spyderco REALLY know how to make a cheap (ish) knife made from FRG? Or Zytel work! Only one other point to make... That ATS-55 rusts quite easily. Much more so than any ATS-34. Not sure why as it aught to be fairly rust resistant. Well it did, even with Tuf Cloth used on it. That was over two days clipped to belt, without any use in Spring, came as quite a shock!

Great knife! I cannot wait to get a Blue Delica in plain edge.

General:
About ATS-55 picking up rust rather easily, I have to agree. Although oddly, some of my ATS-55 knives rust easily, others seem to have better resistance...which is odd, because they are all Spyderco knives.

I have found for (at least non-salt water) normal use carry, I use Flitz metal polish on my ATS-55 and ATS-34 knives, and it seems to prevent rust better than Tuf-Cloth in certain cases. Plus it hasn't that Tuf-Cloth smell that gets on my fingers.

Yeh, Jim strange eh? On paper I expected a better than ATS-34 for rust resistance.

One too heavy? The other too light? Why not grab a Standard G10 while there' s still a few floating around? Blade shape and handle configuration are quite close to the Delicas...

Nice spydies! Got heft but SS handles scratches rather easily... Both knives, I consider a perfect "dress" knife!!
