I was looking for an opinion. Buying an edc, won’t see hard use(mostly office carry and light hiking) and have decided on a Delica. It will be my first Delica. For about the same price would you pick the DLT exclusive in 20cv or a K390 version? Thanks.

K390 has poor corrosion resistance and will patina quite quickly. Other than that it would be better for edge stability and wear resistance, though not by a huge margin.

20CV will have excellent corrosion resistance but could chip easier and you will need to sharpen it a little more often.

Either one is awesome. As yoko implied above, it probably comes down mainly to whether you want a more or less stainless option.

How worried are you about corrosion
Not very, I usually wipe my blade down with some edci after any extensive use. In the Midwest if that impacts it at all.

I have a satin m4 para 3 lw and have not had any corrosion issues with that yet.

I have Spydies in 20cv and K390. I'd take K390 over every other steel for every day pocket carry. If I was fishing or paddling, I'd take something in the Salt line.

K390 is my favorite all time steel in a folder. Yes, it doesn't have the corrosion resistance 20cv or some other steels have, but edge retention and stability are superb.

Edit - a K390 Endela is my EDC. Rain or shine.

I also have K390 with Delica, Stretch and Endura.
Once a week spray lightly with EDCi and wipe down.
Absolutely no corrosion problems.
The K390 sharpens up easily with DMT diamond plates and strop with Gunny Juice diamonds on thin hard leather.

Mister Coffee,

EDCi by Aegis Solutions is available at most on line dealers.
I purchase mine from Rivers Edge Cutlery in the 4 oz bottle.
Quick small squirt from pump and wipe onto blade,,, wipe off with cotton cloth.
Very nice protection for my K390 and 52100 blades, leaves a hard dry thin film on steel surface.
In addition, it makes wiping crud off the blade with microfiber cloth or paper towel much easier.

FK

F FK Thank you, F. I have never bought from REC before, but I'll take this steer as a "thumbs up" for them.

Do you worry about the pivot area of the blade, the part underneath the scales?

I do spray into the pivot area and push the liquid down with a thick piece of paper or thin plastic.
How that interacts with my pivot lube,,, is totally unknown chemically however, the performance is fine.

My pivot lube is Nano-Oil or more recently Gunny Glide which is great for similar adherence to steel surfaces and it gives me protection from corrosion in the washer and pivot interface.
This is rather expensive lubrication for the bottle quantity but with fairly frequent use with a few drops on approx. several dozen knives, it does last for a very long time. Applied to a new knife,,, the increase in smoothness is very apparent.

I cannot accept rust or corrosion on my blades and do enjoy non-stainless, due to its ease of sharpening and toughness.
The EDCi and Gunny Glide give fantastic results with very little effort.

FK

Is it food safe?

I have not studied the MSDS specs however, the owners of the company claim in the above video there are no chemicals included in the original formula that will not pass "food safe" qualifications. They are just waiting for gov"t "FDA compliant" approval to label as such.

The amount on the blade is a very small and in a thin hard coating after wiping down.
I doubt one could absorb a significant amount to cause harmful medical problems.

Yes, CPM-20CV (Crucible), CTS-204P (Carpenter) and M390 (Bohler-Uddeholm) are almost identical in composition.
Differences in performance depend upon sharpening profile and heat treatment.

I just placed my order, adding to the collection.

Depends. Do you like a pretty shiny blade or live near the ocean? 20cv.

Do you value edge retention over looks? K390.

I am fond of Deilca's in different blade steels and colors
