Hi, I am a long-time Spyderco fan, I have owned and used and sold and traded a lot of Spydercos. I have owned both the pinned version of the Delica as well as previous Delica 4s.
But, I found myself without one recently and had an Amazon Gift Card, ergo I just rec'd a new Delica 4 ffg (sold by Amazon).
All that to say, this isn't my first Spyderco, let alone my first knife, and I am a huge Spyderco fan.
So, when I open the knife, the lockbar or 'rocker arm', remains raised above the handle scales, i.e, not flush. There is a little bit of play as I press downward on the blade, it feels like it moves downward and a little bit forward and then it feels like it clicks into place. The lockup feels solid after that.
Does this sound like a defect?
I have read other threads on back lock concerns and have seen Sal chime in talking about locks "settling in"?
I hate to go through the trouble of sending it in for warranty, just to have it returned and told "it is within acceptable limits".
None of my other lockback knives, Spyderco or other brands do this.
Below are pics, first, right after opening and second, after putting a little pressure on the blade.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Phil
