I think it's time for me to stop EDC fixed blades and large folders, and I need a small folder to carry in office. Delica has 3" blade and calypso jr. got 2.875", so they are about the same size. Everybody here are talking good things about the calypso jr., and delica is one of of Spyderco's time-proven "flagship" models. Which one would you chose?

I'm a big fan of flat ground blades, so for me the choice is easy: Caly. IMO, the Delica's design has been improved thanks to the saber grinds. I don't care much for hollow grinds, but that's just me :)

Otherwise, the knives are similar in both weight, size and material used. However, the Delica might just have better ergos at least in my medium sized hand.

You can't go wrong with either of them. Let the dice decide :D

Caly has a 50/50 finger choil as well. In a few months there will be runs of both the Caly and the Delica in ZDP, along with color changes in the FRN. I do not know if any other changes are in the works though. I've had both a Caly and a Delica, I like them both a lot, but the Caly gets the pocket time.

Given the choice, the only reasons to favor the Delica would be if all your other carry knives were tip up and you wanted to maintain consistency or if you want a combo edge. The Calypso Jr offers a flat ground blade for superior slicing, a 50/50 choil which increases the number of hand positions you can use, and the fishscale bi-directional texturing which puts the "volcano grip" used on most other FRN Spydercos to shame for both looks and traction. The grey PE ones and black SE ones are still easy to find.

My unscientific take is that the Calypso Jr. just feels right in my hand, the choil and blade shape. I haven't done enough cutting with either (I have them both in VG10) to comment on the grinds, but they are both Sypderco sharp. If I had bought the delica first, I probably would not have bought the Calylpso, Jr.

Thanks guys! I think I am gona to get a Calypso Jr.
Now the question is, shall I grab a discontinued vg-10 version now or wait several months for the new ones with some called "supersteel"?

You can still find the VG10 ones for around 35 bucks. Thats a great deal. Then get the new one in June.

They're both awesome. You get the Calypso Jr if you want something that cuts like a scalpel, something that, when you hand it to someone and they cut with it, their eyes bug out and they go "holy $^#$!" The delica is what I carry when I know I'll be abusing it somewhat, prying with the tip and other no-nos. It still cuts well, and is a little more abuse-friendly (though it's still not hard to break off the tip).

Get the VG-10 version now, and later if you want to get the ZDP model, sell the VG-10 one.
With such a good following (well deserved), there will always be a market for discontinued Calypso's
;)

Get the VG-10 Calypso, Jr. while you can directly from Spyderco for $35 shipped. If you haven't already, do it now before they're gone at that price.

P.S. VG-10 IS a supersteel.

;)
