Delica or Endura?

They seem like very similar knives. Is there anything I should really think about before choosing? Is one of them significantly better? Any and all help is appreciated.

They are indeed similar. Same materials, same basic design, both are reliable and comfortable. The main difference is in size, the Endura being the larger one.
I really can't say that one is better than the other, since this depends mainly on the personal prefference.

Theyre both essentially the same knife, the Endura is just bigger than the Delica. I find the Endura abit too big, so if you dont have any cutting tasks that absolutely requires a big blade i'd say go for the Delica.

And then get the Endura so its little brother wont get lonely :D!

well where you are there could be carry laws. so if there are the delica would work. if not get the endura. they are both nice knives.

I also find the Endura a bit too big. I wouldn't really mind the size, but with the FRN handle it's very blade heavy in the hand- thats what keeps me from buying one.

What size gloves do you wear? If small or medium, Delica will fit you better.

I wear a large glove, so I prefer the handle of the Endura.

In terms of blade size, the only times I've "needed" the extra blade length of my Endura is when I have to cut through deli sandwhiches. Other than that, 3" is usually enough.

Sure! I second that. Why not? You will end up having both anyway once the Spyderco but bites you, along with a whole mess of others.

Hahaha. I wish. I really do. Believe me the Spyderco Bug has already bitten me. In addition to these two, I'm looking at the Dragonfly, Ladybug, Pacific Salt, and Military. I'm afraid to browse further. And this is coming from a person that used to think Spydercos were the ugliest of the ugly. :p

California doesn't have a blade length limit that applies in this case. :D:D:D

I think I'll get a Delica in White FRN. It looks freakin' awesome, and I don't think I need that extra length. Thanks guys. :D

Best of luck with the search for a white delica. They were a limited run I believe and that was a while back. I was lucky enough to find a white endura and dragonfly.

The Delica is my favorite folder. Just started carrying a D4 this month. Carried one of the '98 versions since they hit in 1998. So I've been carrying a Delica in one form or another for a very long time.

Good luck finding a white one. I've seen them for sale here and there but every time I order or call they're actually sold out, it just wasn't taken off the site.
So I got green. :)
Actually I got 2 green CE, 4 black PE, 1 black CE and 2 green G10 PE and 1 wave. That's all been in the last month when I finally decided to cave in and get a D4.

Well, in my opinion, the Endura is the way to go. There ARE white FRN Enduras out there ;)

I own Delicas and Enduras, but it seems I like the Enduras better. They are a bit bigger in the pocket, but you wouldn't really feel neither of them when clipped. The reason I prefer the Endura size is that I just realized using both of them that the bigger knife can do more tasks easily than the small version. Since it doesn't make any difference when wearing them (they both just disappear in your pocket, I have to grab my jeans' pocket to make sure am I actually carrying them), I choose the bigger one. It is simply more versatile.

My first Spyderco was a Delica 4. I recently sold it, but I still have a D4 CE and a D4W. The next Spyderco I get will be a Pacific Salt (essentially a E3 in H1). I really thought I'd like the Delica, and I may pick up a FFG one, but the Endura packs a lot of utility in a lightweight, slender, easy-to-carry package.

Don't forget the Pacific Salt and Salt 1. They're the Endura3/Delica3 versions with rust free H1 steel.

Depends on where you live. The state doesn't have a blade length limit, but the city of Los Angeles does. Legal limit is 3" for the city of Angels.

if you dig a bit deeper I think you'll find that the 3" limit in LA actually only refers to openly carried blades, and there is actually no limit to a concealed folder. Of course, I'm not a Lawyer, and california's laws are very convoluted, so take that as you will. And you never know if they call a visible pocket clip openly carried....

OP I'd opt for Delica. You really can't go wrong with a 3" blade for EDC. Like someone else said, the only time I want more blade length is cutting up food, and most people seem to be the same way. But I don't think you can make a bad choice in this case :D

My white frn Endura4 arrived yesterday (along with my mules and other goodies!) and i couldnt be happier I have an S30V Native already so ive got the small edc covered. Im 6'5 so the endura is a great fit. It is bigger than i thought it would be which is great because i sometimes carry one of my six inch cold steels (ugh i know lol very very happy i found Spyderco). Im interested in all of the knives but I could deff see this Endura being my new fav. :)

You're absolutely right. I took the word of the owner of a famous knife store in LA, but I did as you suggest and dug a bit. The only law regarding knife carry that I can find is as follows:

SEC. 55.10. CARRY KNIVES OR DAGGERS IN PLAIN VIEW PROHIBITED.

(Added by Ord. No. 162,995, Eff. 1/7/88.)

(a) As used in this section, the term “knife” or “dagger” shall include any knife, dirk or dagger having a blade 3 inches or more in length, any ice pick or similar sharp tool, any straight edge razor or any razor blade fitted to a handle.

(b) No person shall wear or carry in plain view any knife or dagger upon any public street or other public place or in any place open to the public.

(c) The prohibitions of this section shall not apply where a person is wearing or carrying a knife or dagger for use in a lawful occupation, for lawful recreational purposes, or as a recognized religious practice, or while the person is traveling to or returning from participation in such activity.
