Delica question

I know the reputation for VG-10 to be fairly rust resistant, but what about the skeletonized liners, lock bar, etc? I am looking to purchase a Delica and will be getting it wet on occasion (mainly fresh water). Thanks in advance for your input.

Agreed on the Salt.
The liners on the Delica will rust. To be fair, they are shipped with a liberal coating of oil on them but after disassembling too many Enduras and Delicas to remember I've found rust after the oil has been washed out due to cleaning. Not a big deal, it's just another place I squirt some oil on my knives these days. The Salt series will eliminate the issue though.

The Salt 1 has a slightly longer blade, slightly shorter grips and it's lighter. Great little knife.

I clean my Delica (and other knives) with soap and water, shake them out and let them drain. That's pretty much how Spyderco tells you to maintain them. You can add a little oil to the pivot as Spyderco recommends. I treat both stainless and carbon steel knives the same way and, yes, I live in a hot, humid part of the country. Exposure to water doesn't hurt knives unless you leave them submerged or get them wet and leave them in your soggy clothing or let them get wet in salt water (or coated in sweat) and then fail to rinse them off soon thereafter.

The H1 knives are great for frequent use in wet conditions and sea water but the liners of the Delica is fine for the occasional exposure to wet conditions as stated in the original post. Just make sure all the water is out of the knife before putting it away.

I'm only really interested in plain edge. I've often read that plain edge H1 is not very good, but then I've heard others say it's fine. Thoughts?

I've had zero issues thus far. But I'm also not doing the kind of stuff SurfingGringo does with his. I tend to go easier on smaller blades than my bigger ones too.
