I was looking at the reviews on Amazon. One person stated the Delica blades were made in Japan then sent to Golden and the rest of the knife was assembled.
Is this a true statement?

Hi Rmeron,

Not true. Delica's have always been made in Seki-City, Japan. Whole knife.

Well there you go from the man himself. It always amazes me that Sal takes the time to not only check out posts here but respond to them too. Dedication to his craft. Not to mention a great way to constantly make improvements based on customer feedback.
Thanks Sal!!

Thank you Sal. Just got my Delica LW today, it fits me better than the Manix 2 LW. I will carry both though.

I think you will find yourself carrying the Delica and leaving the M2LW at home. Now, what you really need to pair with it is an Endura in the same color. I have Delicas and I never part with them. It is a great knife. I have an Endura and it has stayed, too, but the PM2 and M2XL departed. So, there you go.

I carry both at the same time, Delica at the bottom of the pocket and the Manix 2 LW clipped on the pocket.
Are the Endura's a Golden or Japan Product. I'm gunshy of Chinese, I used to own Smith and Wesson knives which mostly were junk.

Japan isn't China, Spyderco isn't S&W, and comparing the 2..... Is like comparing a Gremlin to a Porsche..(if sports cars, was the topic) Lol..

(Not being a smart ass, just sayin).. [emoji106]

The Endura is a Delica, just bigger..

I wasn't knocking Japan, Just had bad luck with Chinese made knives and would rather not take a chance no matter who they are made for. The Endura looks like it will be my next purchase.

I can understand your feelings, but Spyderco's Chinese made value line (Tenacious, Ambitious, Persistence, and Resilience) and byrd line are not your typical Chinese POS knives. They are held to the same quality standards as Spyderco's Japanese knives. But, the Delica is a great choice. I carry mine every day without fail.

There have been many worthy contenders for pocket time but my Delica ZDP eventually reclaims its throne.

As for Spyderco's 'Chinese' knives, those from the Tiachung factory match, if not exceed, the quality found in those from Golden or Seki City.

Even the blade sharpness!!

Hi rmeron, if I were you I would have a look at the Pacific Salt. It is basically a lightweight and completely rust proof endura. That particular steel (H1) performs much better in its serrated form. Speaking of...you kinda need some Spyderco "teeth" too, so this could definitely be a "two birds, one stone" opportunity. :)

Why did you say that!

He was being sarcastic. I am known to be a bit of a Salt "fanboy". :D

I don't always recommend the Salts though. For example, I prefer the Delica to it's cousin the Salt 1. I just think that the serrated Pacific Salt is a pretty special creature in the Spyderco lineup. Slim and light, tough as nails, and serrated h1 performs very well. The fact that it's a 100% corrosion proof knife is a necessity for my kayak fishing but I think that even folks who don't necessarily need that would still find it an attractive feature.

I was just having fun because he likes the knife, and for good reason. It is a great knife and he uses one daily. You should get one, yourself.
