Delica replacement

I have been carrying an older model Delica (8A blade and integral plastic pocket clip) with SpyderEdge blade for almost 2 years now. I work in EMS and this knife has yet to fail me on or off the job. The knife is carried daily and used in an utilitarian role. I now feel it is time, however, to replace the knife ( with another Spyderco, of course). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think the new lightweight Calypso Jr would be a great replacement, similar size, very lightweight, and a flat ground VG-10 steel blade.

They are a brand new model. Apparently they're shipping now, I'm trying to find a supplier.

I don't think you can go wrong with this one.

JMO though.

My suggestion would be to take a look at the Bladeforums Native. About the same size as the Delica, but with a big bulletproof nonslip G10 handle, steel backspacer, very solid; feels great in the hand, very sure grip. Long lasting CPM 440V blade steel with just a bit more belly than the Delica. Same tip-up carry as the Delica, with a reversible pocket clip. Serrated one looks to have about 3/4" of plain edge at the tip, for delicate work.

I don't mean to sound like a cheerleader for the hometown knife -- but I really do like it that much.

I bought my first one, plain-edge, a few months back, for my collection, because it was intriguing, and to support Bladeforums. I'm so taken with it that I ordered a serrated one last week, which I expect to carry often.

Just my $0.02,

Medic402 - You might consider the newer Delica. Same basic pattern. Stronger metal left / right clip. Better steel.

Another newer model is the Rescue Jr. Same features and size as new Delica, but with a sheepfoot blade shape (permits safer cutting of clothing etc).
