Delica sharpener?

You can use the corners of the triangular stones to sharpen the serrated portion of a combo edge as well as using them for the plain part. Just skip using the flats of the stones on the serrations ;) :D

I recently got a sharpmaker and i bought a delica4 a couple mths before. I have every knife i own hair-poping sharp, except for the deica. it is sharp, but not like my others, (bm 211, bm vex, vic sak, spydie jester, old timer slippy, even my gerber paraframe). I dn't know what the deal is.

This was more of a rant, but i am still open to suggestions.

Try the sharpie method and mark the edge of the blade. This way, you can see if you are hitting the edge or the shoulder. If you are hitting the edge, the marks should be gone in a matter of a ew strokes. if not, than you will be able to see the marks coming off the shoulder.

The sharpmaker is a fine sharpener. The felt tip sharpie process is great to see where you are with a blade edge. When an edge is just not coming together I find it helpful to stow it until a later date. Starting fresh usually helps. And remember one must stay with it as they are not going to sharpen themselves. If you get in trouble with an edge just stay with it for the rewards of a sharp knife you edged.

I find that I get my Delica VG10 the sharpest by using the brown medium stones and forgetting about the white stones. A little edgieness to the VG10 seems to work best.

I'm just the opposite. I use the whites and (on a plain edge only) afterwards a bit of freehand on a hard Arkansas. A strop and ....wow!

The serrated I do on the whites at the 15 degree Sharpmaker setting.

:)

Chinese Man: thanks for that, i had heard it before but forgot about it.
coop1957: I spent more time w/ the grey rods but couldnt help using the white ones also.

all in all i think i did manage to get it sharper than before.
