Just gave my new Spyderco Delica FRN (fully serrated) its first "field test". We have a rural property where I spend a lot of time walking and piddling, and the Delica was GREAT at hacking and cutting greenbriar, and lots of other unwanted weeds, etc. For the somewhat larger items---cedar branches, etc., I encounter along the way, I'm thinking of getting a SpyderSaw, based on its convenient pocket size, as well as my initial favorable impression of Spyderco cutting ability.

I would appreciate any opinions/experience with the SpyderSaw, and any info on where to get on (online) at the best price.

Thanks, Andrew

Tell you what, it is a BIG knife that I wouldn't rec. carrying in your pocket. It's cutting capability is just flat out awesome for cutting the trees that it is intended to. I love mine for that reason, but it is just too big to carry. The plastic pocket clip makes it look very cheap, but it works, just not that durable :(
The blade is thin & does an outstanding job on butchering trees to death.
After cutting about 20 branches down from my trees, it is still as sharp as when it was new. Gotta hand it to Spyderco knives when it comes to that, there blades have always been great!

Just my thought on it :)

SpyderSaw cuts like crazy for its size. A number of whitewater boaters and rescue professionals carry these in sheaths attached to PFDs or backpack straps for emergency use. Great for springtime creek paddling where there's a good chance of encountering "strainers" and other obstructions. Big saw in a small package.
