Delica; super blue or ZDP?

Initially I wasn't too impressed when I first got my delica 4 and eventually gave it to my buddy.
But now I'm starting to appreciate back locks a bit more and I think I'm gonna it another chance.
Tithe question is, should I get the super blue or the ZDP? I've been meaning to try both steels for a while now and if anyone with experience with either, please give me your input.

Thanks in advance!

I would recommend Superblue for the sole reason of it being a sprint-run and rarer. But otherwise, ZDP will hold and edge longer, be more stainless, and take more time and effort to sharpen. Superblue is easier to sharpen, gets crazy sharp very easy, is very tough, and isn't stainless at all.

Super blue although the laminated route that Spyderco chooses to go makes me cringe.

I understand why they do it, I'm just not a fan.

I'd love to hear more about this. What exactly do you mean?

FYI, I have no experience with Superblue.

I also say super blue for the same reasons as above. I have a SB Stretch and just love it and it makes a good story to tell people who ask about it

Super Blue hands down over chippy ZDP

I like laminated steels, get all the cutting power in the core with out all the metallic taste.. just scratches a little bit more if you care about that.

Chippy ZDP.....I thought Spyderco took care of that after the mules by changing heat treat.

Anyhow, I'd get the SB because when they are gone.....they are gone. I have an Endura, Stretch and Ladybug all in SB.......amazing steel.

I've had many Spydercos in ZDP and I never had any chipping issues. I agree that SB is amazing

Superblue as the ZDP are regular production and you won't be able to get the SB version later (unless another run occurs) except at inflated prices.

I actually bought one of the SB Delicas last night. They are getting a little hard to find - since it's a sprint, I'd do that one now.

Get both! Both are good steels, well loves for good reasons. That said, make sure you get a super blue while you can.

Part of the allure of carbon blades for me is the patina that goes along with it. Spyderco laminates their super blue with 420j2 (I think) and the exposed cutting edge is the only super blue visible.

Nobody wants a rusty pivot so again, I get why they do it (although they could have just laminated the tang). My super blue san mai Takeda is one of my favorite blades, the steel has a wonderful surface look and picks up great character. There's nothing wrong with laminated SB, just takes a lot of the fun out of it for me.

I just got done putting my S/B Stretch blade to the strop and it's sharp as a scalpel.

The big question I would have is super blue or vg10? I rather like vg10 myself!
