Hey Guys,

So I recently bought the Spyderco Delica Aogami Super Blue. I'm not sure if I should use this knife, or just keep it as a collector piece. Are they making a limited amount of them? What do you guys think?

Much thanks,

~Ben

I don't know myself, I have both the SB endura and SB delica and I plan on using the heck out of them. Surely i'll get Alen Putman's custom G10 when available. They make for superb user with that second kind of cool. BTW, I find that the 420j steel scratches VERY easily.

I used to own a Caly 3.5 Super Blue and it was a hell of a knife!!!
I'm not sure if it's a limited run or not, but it most probably is..

I would use the hell out of it!! I don't know if it was my Caly's grind or the steel, or both... but that little sucker was probably the sharpest thing I've ever had in my hand. Like a laser beam.
If you use the knife, it will most definitely patina the blade, but I think that just makes it look better!! :)

Your call man... Enjoy it however ya wanna...

Use it, it's a great knife. I scratched up my delica already, so it's getting used.

I think there is only going 1200 of each made not sure, I thought I read that somewhere.
I also have a matching pair with my Delica having a CC number I don't think that has anything to do with value though, I'm going to be keeping mine in the box though. I'm more of a collector than a user.

DUDE! It's a tool. Use it, sharpen it. Don't abuse it, but don't let it sit in a box it's whole life.

The SB Endura/Delica just beg to be used! They are too good to let sit.

I bought a couple SB Enduras, they really are awesome knives ,use mine all the time at work cutting, tape, rope, cardboard boxes, vinyl tubing, and today I cut some fiberglass insulation and a small electric cord with copper wire(I know I was cringing too)It held up good though ,still was catching fingernail. To me the Enduras & Delicas are user knives, these are the type of knives that originally drew me to Spyderco products

If it makes you feel better I will take them out and oil them monthly.;)

I Doubt monthly will be enough to keep the patina away. SB is very prone to corrosion. I think the SB Delica looks good with the edge, spine, and inside the Spydie hole patina'd anyway.

Hey just use one and store one. Problem solved! Great knife.

Monthly is more than enough, I keep them inside.

If I had one, I would carry it on a daily basis and use it for cutting (!!) tasks. If it is used for cutting and not used for prying or abusing in general it will last for a lifetime. As well as any other (well made) knife.

The only thing - you could loose it - but taking some care ... this won´t happen ;)

I'm wondering if anyone has done a forced patina on their super blue ?

Nope but I'll use mine as a experiment, already put some scratches on it.
What should I use to achieve a force patina?

Keep using it. Looks like some haze has set in. I have just used mine. I did cut up some oranges, so i assume that expedited the process.
