Has anybody had problems with the Delica being tip-up? Does it have a good detent to keep it closed in your pocket?
Thanks.
I'm catching the Spyder bug! Gotta have more.

I've had one for about 4-5 years and it has never accidentlly came open. The Spyder bug is like the Ebola virus, only slower in it's incubation period. A chronic disease that has no known cure. It can only be treated, but not cured, by purchasing more and more Spyderco's. Good luck and have fun!

I own and have carried a number of tip-up Spydies. I have never had an unintentional blade openning.

The Delica is rock solid when closed. The backspring is very strong, and combined with the blade hole (instead of a thumb stud, which can catch on a thread) make it near impossible for it to accidentaly open in your pocket.

The Delica is a lock back not a liner lock. I have dozens of lockbacks and have never had a problem with any of them opening in my pockets. I suppose it could happen with a large heavy blade and a weak back spring but that just doesn't happen with Spydercos. The problem is much more prevelant with liner locks since there is no back spring to keep the blade closed and therefore a detent is required.

Mister,

I carry two Delicas everyday. I have never had any type of problem with either. The lockback spring is quite sufficient to keep them closed.

As to the Spyder bug, congratulations and welcome!

I've been carring my Delica for 6 years now, and an Endura for 6 1/2. One time my Delica opened in my pocket. I carry it on my left side with my keys in the same pocket. One of my keys snagged the hole, and "slice", one small cut. I have since adjusted my keys, and haven't had any more problems. I also must say that my Delica opens easy.

I've been carrying a Delica for about 6 years also, and have never had a problem with it opening. The Spyder bug is insideous. Soon, without knowing quite how, you'll have a sizable collection of Spyders.

I've had my delica for a year its a great knife. As was mentioned earlier there is no need for a detent ball since its a lock back and has a really solid backspring, Makes that great snapping noise when you flick it open

Tip up is my favorite way to carry knives since I keep them in my back pocket. Your delica should never open up on you unless you catch it on something. Then if that happens your fingers are position at the butt of the handle away from the blade, so as long as you don't butcher your leg you don't get hurt.

Fix it right the first time, use Baling Wire !

The Delica is a real piece of work - My son got me one about two years back and I immediately fell in love with it so I got him one.. never ... repeat never had a problem with it opening.. I have a band-aid on a finger and another part of my anatony right now from a "Kiss" that I was carrying in my Hip pocket and that is point down! Trust the Delica - and whoever said it is right the Spyderco viris is about to strike you ! not to worry just bring your credit card.
